Do you guys know the SAT Score report thing works? I’m planning to take both the October and November administration of the SAT however I’m not really sure if I should send both score reports or send only the November administration.
UT says to send them all and they will use the one that benefits you most.
I graduated this year and am a Spring applicant… I guess I’m technically in the college class of 2021 now haha
Texas A&M sent out about 2000 decisions on admissions today per their Twitter page for Aggie Bound. My daughter got auto admitted there today, but she is awaiting a decision on her major.
From UT Austin Admissions today: Sorry, but we don’t yet have information on when decisions will be released.
All we want is admission decisions. Is that too much to ask!? Lol
Prepare yourself…you will be in hurry up and wait mode until February and even March, for most of your college decisions. It is best to just accept it, go on with your busy lives and not get dramatically consumed by it. Enjoy your final year at high school. It’s really not til the end of March or even early April (when the financial aid packages come out) that you can actually make YOUR decision anyway. April is when you make the colleges sweat!!
I asked on Twitter if admissions knew what month they would be sending out decisions.
This is what UT Admissions said to me on Twitter:
“Sorry, not yet! Last year, the very earliest decisions were released in November and continued through March.”
I don’t know if this applies to auto-admits.
@JazzM1 - I believe that this refers to decisions with regard to major & college you have been accepted in.
Last year- the first round of majors came out in November. (DS was admitted CNS physics in the first round- he was an auto-admit & his MyStatus page updated as an auto-admit shorting after he applied in mid-October).
@bookmom7 Thank you so much! You cleared up a lot of confusion for me lol
Last year our daughter submitted her completed app on 10/14 and got her auto admit notice shortly after that. She got admitted into her major in the CNS on 1/21.
One of my friends told me they got a notification of acceptance by november/december timeframe even though they weren’t auto admit. Is that just a thing with UT feeder schools or was she just lucky?
^^It depends on how competitive your stats are relative to your major. By feeder school do you mean high schools that are listed in the “feeder” report? Then no, I have not seen anything that looks like certain high schools hear earlier.
Which dorms are your first choices? I’ve been trying to research them, but I don’t really know which ones I want to be at. Does anyone know how far the honors dorms are from the engineering department? And if you get into the honors program, do you have to stay at the honors dorms, or can you pick something else?
Here is a map:

Honors dorms are not far from Engineering department but remember your freshman classes will be in all kinds of classes not just engineering.
No- honors students do not have to live in the honors dorms.
Do you have a budget? That’s another fast way to narrow it down.
The nicest and newest on campus are San Jac and Duren but they are most expensive and you have to clean the bathroom yourself.
Jester and Kinsolving have the dining halls in them which is very convenient.
Jester is very close to the library and the gym. So are BRP and Moore-Hill.
Surprisingly, the honor dorms are in the least expensive category, most likely due to the fact that they have common baths, rooms/closets are somewhat smaller and the dorms are older (or have more character depending on your view point). My LHS loves it there.
@gettingschooled What schools are listed in the feeder report? last year in our school 108/601 are attending UT (westwood high school) so I guess we are considered a feeder school. Also she was very competitive with her EC’s like going to welch, but her rank was around 13-15%

@gettingschooled @TXDad56 Thanks guys. My budget is as cheap as possible, so its probably going to be honors dorms if I get in, and Jester if I don’t. I really don’t want to be cleaning bathrooms I share with others though.
Any auto admits gotten their auto admit notice yet?
