Applied Undeclared in College of Natural Sciences, Second Major: Linguistics.
I would say my Essays and Recommendations are amazing. (10/10 got them read by many people)
Profile:-
At school, in 9th & 10th grade my marks were in between 85-90%.e In 11th, they were about 70% (I have taken up Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science). I’m currently in 12th grade.
SAT scores: 1250/1600 on the New SAT. 700 on Math Level 2 Subject Test.
Extra-Curricular’s/Work experience:-
- I have made 3 games for iOS which are on the App Store(Two of them have a 5-star rating).
- I run a news website/blog about technology news and stuff with a friend of mine; it just hit 1 million registered users.
- I also started a company in January 2016 with a partner, called 'fworld' which is sort of a fashion consultancy; my job there though is social media marketing, making the company's app( which I'll work on in a few months), and the company website which is almost done.
- I also have a YouTube channel on which i post gadget/tech review videos, etc; the channel has over 200,000 views and a thousand subscribers now.
- I have attended to 2-3 Model United Nations Conferences(One at Harvard).
- I have also attended a robotics summer camp at NASA in which there was also a competition that my team won.
- I have done 30 hours of community service.
- I have also completed a 45-day internship.
- I also designed a website for a big event that my school was having recently.
- Done 40-50 hours of community service.
- Teaching underprivileged children in my neighborhood Math and English for a while now.
- Started writing about technology, Life Experiences, etc. on Quora. I'm currently a 'Most Viewed Writer' in topics: Entrepreneurship, Startups & Strategy.
@caliguy1111 You have a good shot with your ECs. Your GPA and SAT might be a problem but hey, everything is taken into account, after all it’s a HOLISTIC REVIEW! Not to mention you have SAT SUBJECT TEST as well. If you had chosen Robotics / Computer Science or a specific major, I think you might have had better chances. Not many international students with undeclared majors are admitted and as I’ve said earlier, second choice majors are not given much significance. Stay positive and have patience. It won’t be long before the next wave hits. Good luck!
I was suggested when I applied that I should go not pick Computer Science since it is very competitive so I went with Undeclared. Should I change it now or let it be?
I believe it’s past the deadline to change it for a fall 2017 application
You could always email them. I’ve changed my second choice from MechE to ChemE only less than a week ago via email.
If you think that keeping your first choice major undeclared increases your chances, then let it be, because I don’t want to be responsible for anyone’s rejection (God forbids). I want everyone whose first or second choice is UT and who have worked really hard for this, to get in no matter what. I don’t like the idea of getting acceptance from a school to which you have no desire of going, but only care to get accepted as a means of showing off; that would only take the seats of those who are dying to be a longhorn! (just had to lay off the load…)
@caliguy1111 Do whatever your heart desires. I would still suggest doing some online research about whether or not having undeclared major increases the odds of acceptance (check the past threads, speak to UT students who took the same road as you). Hope it helps.

Hey, I received an email saying “Within the last 24 hours, we sent you important information in MyStatus. Please log in to review what’s posted there.” but nothing has been posted in MyStatus yet. Anyone else receive this?

yeah what’s going on? I got the email from UT to check mystatus 40 minutes ago but there isn’t anything on mystatus… wth austin?
My son got in engineering honor , we have not check mystatus for past sevens days, very happy !
Checked MyStatus multiple times… no change
I have unspecified business as my first choice, but I would like to add a second choice major.

We got that same email about new information in MyStatus and no apparent change. Time will tell…
Interesting about the emails some of you got tonight. Of course, we didn’t get one. It’s starting to look bleak around here. 
Did anyone tweet the UT admissions page regarding this strange email? They’re usually pretty responsive to questions.

We did not get any email, we happen to check mystatus today, find out my son got in engineering honor program, very happy. I think it will be good sign you got email !
