UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

Thank you very much for your congratulations. My son got 48k for four years, 12k per year. His stats is , 35 ACT, top 2 % rank, 5 for all 6 AP classes, four years in marching band, three years in summer military academy. UT is our dream school, and UT appreciate my son the most than other schools, which make us very happy!!!

@TexasFootball – awesome! Do you mind sharing if that is need based scholarship money (Texas Advance scholarship); merit based or for any under represented populations?

His stats are crazy impressive! Knowing what type of aid is handed out is helpful to everyone now and in the years to come.

In retrospect , since we are very interested in UT, we visited UT twice, did not register to visit other schools even though we visited their campus by ourselves . That is why UT give the best offer to us?

My son’s scholarship is merit based scholarship. Thanks for your congrats.

@Glee We are so desperate… I feel like crying! You guys only have to worry about getting in, while I have two things to worry about; getting in and GETTING INSIDE THE UNITED STATES. I regret returning to my country for vacation… :frowning: #GodBlessAmerica

How difficult is computer science entry level for international

@USUG21 it’s difficult to even get into ut austin, much less for computer science. i heard from someone that the intl acceptance rate is around 2%

@nyanpasu_ That’s not really the case. For fall 2016 international applicants it was 26%. They only received 3% of the available spots. The acceptance rate should vary a lot depending on the number of international applicants.

If there are 100 total seats, 90 seats are given to the in-state applicants, 7 seats to the out of state applicants and 3 seats to the international applicants. If only 3 international applicants applied to UT, then it would mean the international acceptance rate for that certain year (more specifically the fall semester) would be 100%.

@sean191297 very true. good point. basically, acceptance rates can be unreliable

@TexasFootball --no, I HIGHLY doubt that visiting the campus twice had anything to do with the merit scholarship.

He applied to Engineering honors and he has amazing stats–that is what got him the scholarship. There are kids who practically live on the campus their whole lives because their parents are alumnae and they go to games all the time, etc. That doesn’t make them a shoo in for scholarships.

Could you all chance me for admissions to Computer Science?
