UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

@photomom99 it was last year. everything was released the weekend of Feb 19-21 last year for US applicants except some honors decisions i believe.

@Parent7 That must be a good sign. What are those 5 tabs? Do you mind sharing? I still have 3 under the dashboard.

@tb2000 sorry I mean like what date the decisions have been released the past few years. Most people, including me, are only relying on last years thread that they will be released on the third February.

When y’all are discussing tabs, are you referring to the tabs on the MyStatus website? Or am I missing something? My d’s MyStatus has 5 tabs across the top (dashboard, admission, housing, financial aid, honors). Under the dashboard tab, she has Fall 2017 Admission and Fall 2017 Housing.

Glee, her links under Dashboard are now showing:
Fall 2017 Freshman Admission
Fall 2017 Freshman Honors (new)
Fall 2017 Housing
Fall 2017 Financial Aid
Fall 2017 Scholarship (new)

@honeynut12

last year i read on here that the third week in February had been it for several years prior. Last year each day during that third week Admissions tweeted that it wouldnt be that day even though they also had tweeted at some point it would be that week. I think it being friday last year was new- but it was always that week; for several years apparently.

Some people are using the word ‘tabs’ for the links below the Dashboard. Tabs are actual tabs that go across the top, from left to right, and most people seem to have 5 (Dashboard, Admission, Housing, Financial Aid, Honors).
The Links in the Dashboard tab, going from top to bottom are as @Parent7 listed above.

That’s correct @durna01 Most of us have 5 tabs across the top. This is the links we are referring to. @Parent7 did your daughter apply for honors which is why you now see the link under the dashboard maybe?

Yes, @Glee she applied for Honors

We had new tabs appear across the top as well as new sections under the Dashboard, including Honors, which my kiddo did not apply for. I don’t think it’s an indication that acceptance is just around the corner. More likely, they finally got all the information matched up in the system.

In 2015, the big wave came on a Thursday (Feb 19) at around 1:30pm. So, it does not have to be on Friday

@TXmom1234 true, it does not mean acceptance or otherwise. But it may mean that your info is up to date now hence you are likely to get some news in the next wave/

Yes. My OOS son was admitted Feb. 3rd

Does anyone know how competitive the chemical engineering major at UT is for admissions? My good friend who got accepted into Civil engineering met with a UT advisor and told me she was 1 of 135 people who got accepted. 5,000 applied to that major.

@megxhan 2.7% acceptance rate? That’s laughable. Cockrell’s overall acceptance rate is somewhere between 20-30%; civil isn’t the most competitive engineering field either, so chemical is probably at the lower end of that.

Some sites to consider looking at: http://www.findengineeringschools.org/Profiles_UN-UZ/U_Texas_Austin.htm]

This might be a repeated question, but does UT send out an email directing you to check your MyStatus page when decisions are up? Is the email usually delayed?

@baedrillaurd I think they try hard to get out the email first but I know last year a lot of people found out just by checking their MyStatus and the email came like the next day or later in the week.

Has anyone heard about the neuroscience major yet? Either auto admit or not. I heard it’s like the last major to come out but I was wondering because I haven’t seen many people talk about neuroscience.

@svk12345 My daugther’s good friend is an auto admit and she found out about neuroscience in Jan.

My OOS daughter was admitted on 12/16/16 to CNS.
