@realchk when was it marked complete? I’m OOS and mine was complete on September 15th so I’m starting to get worried since it’s not in review…
@pschnee I don’t remember exactly when it was marked complete, but I think it was late September, after the ACT scores came out.
My son is working on essay C but the status has changed to in review, I don’t know if the essay will be done before they make the decision I thought the deadline is 12/1, so I don’t know what "in review " means.
My DS2 is in-state, non-auto admit. He applied to 3 honors programs. Two of his honors apps were complete on 10/3 and the third one on 10/13. All three turned to “in review” yesterday.
Good luck to all!
@realchk I’d hurry up and do those really soon because I imagine they will be looking at apps in the next 2-3 weeks since last year, the first acceptances (for majors) came out in mid November…
I have a pretty special case- I’m a resident, and my application is listed as resident BUT I didn’t graduate from a Texas high school because my family is military. I’m top 7% but because of not graduating from a Texas high school, I don’t qualify for automatic admission. I applied a while before the priority deadline, and I’ve submitted my housing application too. I just got my “in review” status. I’m freaking out. I have pretty good stats, not THE BEST but pretty good considering my medical limitations and all the school they’ve made me miss etc (I wrote one of my essays over it). I have good essays, reccomendations etc. I’m just freaking out like any high-acheiving, high-stress high school student. Just wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar case to mine and their experience with it?
Hey UT21! There is now a Groupme for all of us seniors going to UT next year. Here is the link:
https://t.co/x8dXwjSqrX Join and get to know some people. It seems really cool so far. My name is Jasmine M.
My app is submitted on Oct. 16, got EID on 17th. I submitted everything but the SAT/ACT, still waiting for those to come out. Does UT evaluate your application without your SAT scores? Shame if I’m missing out on any rounds. Oct. 27 is when CB releases score my Oct 1 SAT. Cheers to all who have applied.
@AngelFoxtrot Your file is not deemed complete until they have either an ACT or an SAT score. Last year we were waiting on an ACT score for my daughter. She wasn’t happy with her SAT score, but we submitted it anyway so the file would be complete. Turns out her writing score on the SAT was enough to give her credit for a class at UT! I encourage you to submit any scores you may have already if you have any. Good luck!
@JazzM1 Actually, don’t. They’re very “clique” like. And if they don’t like you, they ignore you. So there’s that.
@JazzM1 That is too bad. Remember right now, most people do not know if they are actually going to attend UT. They may be auto admit but they may go elsewhere. There are thousands of freshmen at UT- more than any GroupMe can hold.
@gettingschooled I was fixing to say the same thing. The group only has 50 people. Think how small that is in comparison to all the UT incoming freshmen lol. And there aren’t really any business majors on there
It’s only 5 more days until my new SAT score arrives, I believe waiting would be fine. I’ll send immediately after I receive. I don’t think my 1150 would be competent for any engineering school. Hoping for the 1350 range at the best. Thanks for the reply.
I just realized that I have made a mistake on my application. The credits that I have before I applied is 14 and I listed that correctly but I incorrectly put 5/16 as the last time I was enrolled at my local community college. I actually enrolled during the summer. I luckily checked the box that I am currently enrolled in the fall semester for a few DC courses, because I am. Would that be much of an issue? ApplyTexas also did not prompt me to supply any transcripts(HS or college) at all during my application process, however, UT Austin’s site said that I should have submitted my college transcripts through ApplyTexas. MyStatus also said that UT Austin doesn’t need my transcripts at this time.
@AngelFoxtrot It said the same thing about my college transcript and I sent it in anyways. Then it changed to “College transcript received”. So I would recommend that you send in both your high school transcript and your college transcript anyways. And about the incorrect date, idk. I would call admissions.
@JazzM1 Thanks for the reply. I don’t think I should disturb admissions at this time. I feel that their hands are quite full with all the applications that are coming in. I don’t think personally that this is much of an issue because I am fully disclosing my entire college footprint with my CC transcript. Not that a CC would allow you to omit any grades on their official transcript. I’ll probably ask my CC on Monday to send one to UT on my behalf. That leaves the recommendation letters… I don’t think I should send one because most of my teachers only had me for one year and we only get to know each other in the classroom. What do you guys think about rec letters? UT Austin’s site said that they are completely optional.
On the website it says it is optional, but UT recruiters say it is HIGHLY recommended. They emphasize the “highly” part. And do you have more than one teacher?
@JazzM1 I guess I can ask a former math teacher of mine for his recommendation but it’s been around 5 months since junior year that I had him a teacher and I don’t have him this year for any of my classes. Do you think that he’ll have much memory of me to write a recommendation letter?
@AngelFoxtrot It depends on how interactive you were with your math teacher. I know that teachers I’ve really interact with remember me, in comparison to teachers I hardly interact with.
He said sure. Now I only have one thing left to do - send in my SAT score. I’ll send them right after they are available. What I did for my transcript was that I requested a copy in a sealed envelope and opened it, scanned a .jpg, dropped the 2 .jpg images (my transcript is on two pages) in Word and uploaded those. It says on the “Done” drop-down menu that my transcript and rank is received about an hour after I uploaded it. Did anyone do it like this or is it just me?
That was surprisingly fast. Sent SAT scores on Thursday morning right when I woke up, received and completed my app today and qualified for auto admit just tonight. Also, my workload is much lighter this year, but I know my peers are overloading on AP classes senior year as a form of redemption. Would falling out of the auto admit range be a problem? I’m still in it as of this semester. Not too sure about the next one. Two posts in a row from me. I’m so lonely. Did I scare off everyone on this thread?
