Are 1360 SAT and 28 ACT a good score for applying to liberal arts with? Second choice was undergrad studies undeclared… just trying to see how my scores stack up.
Has anyone been accepted to Electrical Engineering yet?
Alright so what are my chances if my act score is only 24 but my gpa is 3.98 (94) and my class rank is 34 out of 130. I applied for undergrad studies as my major and had to go through an appeal process because my school did not send my transcript to UT on time. I work 30 hours a week and do a lot of volunteering and participation with my school. Also can someone elaborate on PACE and CAP. Would I be able to receive that opportunity if my major is undeclared?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-texas-austin/1618668-pace.html @jaspreetkay This should help you be more clear about it.
@svk12345, your statistics looks great, and I believe, you stand a good chance of getting into UT Neuroscience major. Good luck!
Guys, can someone chance me, please? I’ve applied for Petroleum Engineering (Cockrell School of Engineering) as an International student in late September 2016 with an OLD SAT score of 1790 (one sitting), GPA of 4.0 unweighted, no high school ranking. I’ve submitted a total of 7 solid essays (4 applyTexas and 3 Stanford’s), a strong resume that has been updated twice with more internships related to my major, certificates of achievements, 3 letters of recommendation and even financial resources (to see if applying without merit scholarship or financial aid boosts my chances). I even changed my term of enrollment from Fall 2017 to Summer 2017 to increase my chances because Summer seats are more likely to be available as most high schools are over after the commencement of UT summer term classes. Please also note that I have straight As on my GCE Ordinary LEVEL (US high school completion equivalency) and on my Advanced Subsidiary LEVEL (first part of A LEVEL; College course according to UT standards).
I’ve checked the average SAT for Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering to be 1326 (1860-1870 on the OLD) for Fall 2016 and only 96/700 students were admitted. My SAT score is only 70-80 scores less than the last year’s average for the PetE Dept.
I’d appreciate if someone rated my chance of admissions to my Dream School. I’ve shown my utmost interest in every way possible to UT Austin. I’ve longed to be a longhorn.
Please please note that I’ve been accepted to Penn State, Colorado School of Mines, Texas A&M and Texas Tech for Petroleum Engineering/General Engineering (TAMU)
Thanks.
Patience grasshopper (@sean191297) ! Just one more day to go. Now all you can do is [-O<
So if we don’t get accepted tomorrow, then we won’t at all? I heard someone say that but I can’t believe they’d be done sending out decisions this early. I don’t wanna freak out if I don’t hear back tomorrow.
When they’re done making decisions, you won’t hear nothing. Your My Status page will either show that you’ve been accepted, or say that you were not accepted (or maybe PACE’d or CAP’d, if you’re in-state, or waitlisted). But it won’t just say nothing. In other words, if it says nothing, it’s too soon to freak out.
@warrior101x the only thing that’s absolutely certain at this point is the fact that all decisions will be out by March 1st. The only thing we can do is be patient. If you don’t hear back tmrw, don’t lose hope!! There’s still a week and a half until March. We’re all in this together and we’ll make it through!!
@sean191297 seeing ur passion for UT Austin i m sure u ll get into… ur passion must hv reflected in ur essays… and trust me thr is something called " law of attraction ". If u desire UT Austin this much… all forces ll come together to make it for u… just hang on thr…
@USUG21 LOL exactly what I was thinking @sean191297 You are persistent! Hopefully we all get the good news soon.
No matter what your decision, know that life has many roads. Even if this road is not yours, you still have many more before you.
Best of luck to everyone!
if i got denied from A&M (but got offered PSA), do i have a chance for UT. i am OOS btw
@nnk123 It’s hard for us OOSers to get into any Texas college. So I feel ya. But to be honest, the same chance you had of getting into A&M. Right now, it’s just a matter of being picked. Don’t lose hope!
Is the expected date of the large wave for tomorrow simply speculation based on previous years like earnings reports, or has it been posted/stated explicitly that tomorrow is the date?
Saw this posted today on UT’s Campus to Counselor page:
"Over the next few days the Office of Admissions at UT Austin expects to deliver all remaining decisions to 2017 summer/fall freshman applicants. Here are some details.
Admission offers. Some 2017 applicants have already received admission offers, but many additional students will hear this week that they have been admitted to UT Austin. Once all decisions are delivered, more than 15,000 students will be offered a spot in Texas ‘21. Hook ’em, Horns!
Major selection. Some automatically admissible applicants will be asked to select from available majors. This process allows students who were not admitted to their first-choice major to consider other options for reaching their education goals at UT Austin.
PACE: A group of selected applicants will be invited to participate in Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment (PACE), our co-enrollment program with Austin Community College.
CAP: Many Texas applicants will be offered the opportunity to participate in the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) during the 2017-2018 academic year.
Denied admission. Some students will hear that their application for admission has been denied.
No wait list is planned for 2017 summer/fall freshmen applicants."
Good luck, everyone!
Over the next few days, some of you will receive happy news from UT, and others will be disappointed. To those who receive disappointing news, I urge you to give yourself a day to feel like crap – then dry your tears, dust yourself off, and move on. You are all teenagers with your entire lives in front of you. Rejection is hard, but get used to it. Life is full of rejections, large and small. Sometimes it feels like an everyday experience! Accept it. EMBRACE IT, I tell you! Because those setbacks are necessary – necessary – to your growing into the person you’re meant to be. Believe me, this one decision will ultimately have very little impact on your life. How you respond to it matters much more. Don’t ever let an external decision like this change your own opinion about who you are or what you can become.
as i am OOS, it is very difficult to receive admission into UT.
however, i was invited to attend an information session, which was held outside of texas, where i met with admissions counselors, would this be something the committee takes into account?
@TexasMom2017 where did u see this??
