UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

Got accepted into CS!
10/235 rank
4.5 weighted GPA/ 3.8 unweighted
1260 new SAT
In state

Yup, totally agree. Admissions are so unpredictable nowadays, I’m lucky that I got CAP’d. They’re rejecting students with even better stats than me [-( I’m definitely leaning towards Trinity right now, thanks for the input!

@mtreu20 “You’re guaranteed admission to UT Austin’s College of Liberal Arts upon successful completion of the program. And just like any other prospective transfer student, you’ll be able to compete for admission to majors other than those guaranteed in Liberal Arts.” . So no guarantees next year once they complete CAP other than liberal arts. We will most likely not opt for this.

What are your chances of getting into McComb next year once you are CAP’ed this year

Rejected as expected :expressionless:

Hope the rest of y’all had better luck than I did. <3

Good luck to all of you on your higher education endeavors!

@potatotush its a great school, and while i was overjoyed i got into UT trinity was my #1, so hopefully i get taken off the waitlist. All of my friends who go there now absolutely love it!! So dont feel bad about UT not working out

my son was CAP’d – in-state, non-auto admit, 1430 new SAT, 3.49GPA, 3 great recs, killer resume, pretty good essays. Luckily, he’s got some amazing scholarship offers OOS that we have narrowed down to 2. UT was more of a pride thing at this point, so moving on. Congrats to new admits!

So I got I to cockrell but not the major I wanted. Anyone know how hard it is to transfer from civil engineering to mechanical??

I GOT IN!!! Kinesiology Major!!

Got CAP’d. 23 ACT . Saw this coming lolol .
I would like to do Engineering but I hear it’s extremely competitive. If I did CAP, how difficult would it really be to get into electrical engineering? Or would it be better to just do Texas A&M’s Engineering at Galveston?

Accepted Mechanical Engineering, Instate, non auto admit from non ranking high school, 2100 old SAT, 3.9 uw GPA, 4.4 weighted. Still waiting on Honors.

My kid got CAP’d. I am so angry right now. I’m just going to be honest and say so. I’ve seen so many get in with lower scores, etc. I just don’t get it. My heart hurts so much.

DD cap’d McCombs - stats: in state, private school (doesn’t rank) about 10-11%, SAT: 1450, National Merit Commended. Insulted by the CAP and will just say “no.” Congrats to the others. I’m going to my car to take off my UT Longhorn plates. I have bachelor’s and master’s from UT Austin, but this has left a very bad taste in my mouth and I can’t support UT in any way any longer. Sorry to say but true. Go Boston College Eagles!!!

Mine accepted Government. Hook em! For those who REALLY want UT consider CAP- I like PACE better personally, but I have known many kids do well with CAP its just more transitions. I’ve known kids to graduate from UT w honors from McCombs and other majors after starting CAP. Don’t give up! For denials, its just a numbers game, try not to take it personally (easier said than done). My D just got rejected from her dream school, so i know and feel your pain. Go where they love you and think you’re awesome!

congrats to all of you. i was unfortunately denied. i now move on to follow other threads as i wait to hear back from other schools. good luck to you all!

@longhornalum2 heartbreaking…please share all of our virtual hugs with your D and she will soar as an eagle!

Regarding receiving a notification email about admission, my daughter logged into MyStatus at 3:13 PM and saw she was accepted to McCombs (I reported that info above). She got an email at 4:15 PM saying: … Within the last 24 hours, we sent you important information in MyStatus. Please log in to review what’s posted there…

CAPed. Liberal Arts 29 ACT, 3.97 UW, 11 APs, instate. Don’t understand
