My son was auto admitted in mid October three years ago, also applied to Engineering major. Received the Engineering acceptance in mid January. My other son was not auto admitted before the Pandemic, received the Engineering acceptance in mid December.
I see that the new MyStatus is down. Anyone know how long it has been down. Or how long they expect it to be down?
itâs not down for me
My daughter was auto admit (CONS) and has not received the decision on her major yet.
My daughter is auto-admit but hasnât received any acceptance notice yet. She submitted her application on 9/29, so just over 6 weeks ago. Wondering if we should be concerned?
Ah, well, I take some of that back, whoops. She did submit her app on 9/29 (and housing app on the books on 10/6), but she didnât upload her resume until 10/29, and one of her teachers also didnât upload their rec until 10/29. So, I guess they didnât have everything from us until then, so itâs more like 2 weeks since theyâve had all her materials. Anyway, sorry, lol!
Thank you. My son is also waiting for his major (Engineering).
I believe the auto-admit status is based solely on rank in your studentâs transcript. UT usually releases auto-admit decision (not major) about 2 weeks after they process the transcript. Rec letters and resume should not have impact on the auto-admit decision. If it has been more than 2 weeks since you submitted the transcript, I would call the admissions office.
Okay, hmm, yeah, I guess weâll call, because sheâs for sure auto. Thank you.
Called. The guy said that, yeah, theyâve had to do this for some auto-admitsâhave had some delay/glitch or whatever. Anyhow, he confirmed her auto admit on phone with me and said her congrats status should show in next couple of days. .
OH good! I bet that was comforting!
Got auto admit like two days after my transcript was marked complete, think this means anything special for my shot at getting my majors?
This is a normal progression of auto-admit process. Usually, it takes a few days after transcript is processed but could take up to 2 weeks. Decisions on major are released in batches. Based on last year experience, I expect first batch in mid-December. However, there were cases in previous years where some students got their major decisions in November, but this is very rare. Good luck!
I spoke to someone in admissions today, she said that priority auto admits should not expect a major decision until February 1. That is different than prior years. When further queried, she said some may hear earlier, but most should expect major decisions on February 1. Not quite sure if I think the information is accurate. So, grain of salt.
Feb 1 is their official answer to any inquiries. I still hope for mid-December release batch as it was done for years. Good luck everyone!
I thought there is usually a small batch released the Friday before Thanksgiving ?
I thought so too, but I searched last year thread and a year before and I was not able to confirm that. I saw a large batch on Dec 15 in 2021 and Dec 13 in 2022.
My daughter22 got her holistic acceptance to chemE 1/25/22 as did a few other kids in her class. The auto admits in her class got their majors around the same time. My personal data point for dec vs jan. I wouldnât expect any holistic before january. Just get your expectations set for that - it will be easier on the nerves!
I agree - most students (both auto and OOS) get their decisions in late January. December batch is definitely much much smaller than Januaryâs.
My auto-admit son (UT27) received his major acceptance on November 16 last year. Just FYI, I know each year is different!
