UT Austin Comp Sci Turing Scholars - Do I have a chance?

Hi everyone. I’m going to be a senior in high school next year so that means that I’m stressing out over applications. If you’ve applied or are in UT’s Turing program please tell me how high I should get my hopes up. Thank you.

I know I don’t really have much but I do have a passion for computer science and a real talent for it as well. I can get stellar recommendations from computer science, math, and science teachers (I’ve had high A’s in all of those classes since freshman year and they were all pre-AP/AP). Also if it makes a difference (it sometimes can in this field), I’m a girl. Thank you for your time, and if there is anything else that would help you help me then just ask!

You definitely have a chance. I think you have a good chance in getting accepted to CS, especially with the 35 in math. I do think being female, with your stats and ECs, will help with the acceptance to CS but probably not to Turing. I think they would definitely consider you for Turing but nothing is guaranteed. Write a great essay, apply early, show interest and cross your fingers.

Thank you so much! Considering how vigorous Turing is, it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if I didn’t get in lol. At least it’d be easier to get a higher GPA in the regular comp sci major. Thank you for your time.
