UT Austin Computer Science Chances

Hey guys,

I'm going to apply to the school of natural sciences at UT Austin for computer science.

Here are my stats

SAT: 2210, (Math 710, CR 790, Writing 710)

PSAT: 209 (commended)

GPA: 5.338, the cutoff for top ten percent is a 5.35, and my school doesn't rank after that but I'm pretty sure its top 11 percent

Around a 3.75 unweighted on a 4.0 scale

I've taken around 15 AP classes in high school

I will be taking AP Comp Sci next year

I have a few leadership positions: captain of the chess team, vice president of the economics club, started a United As One club

I do some volunteering out the local religious organization (100+ hrs)

I did an internship over the summer at a local computer based company

I also live in state

Thanks

i would say your in , but UT has some unusual selection process , in which they have declined people i know that are top 8% , so i would worry first about getting in , and hopefully you should be good on CS then

Ah okay…thanks for the comment. I was thinking the same thing.

Any other feedback?

Bump

Your stats are nearly identical to my sons except he’s top 8% (which considering is not top 7% doesn’t seem to matter much). He applied around 9/1 and we are waiting to hear back. I’ll keep you posted. Are you a junior?

No, I am a senior. I applied around 9/4…still waiting on UT’s response like your son. Hopefully we will both get in :)

Good luck! Fingers firmly crossed for you both!!
