I was wondering about the same too. It appears like there is no money tied to Dean’s Scholars admission. Anyone with prior experience can comment would help.
From the Honor’s website:
College of Natural Sciences Dean’s Scholars Honors Program Endowed Scholarships
Application Deadline: December 1
All students admitted to the Dean’s Scholars Program are considered for merit-based scholarships at the discretion of the Director of the Dean’s Scholars Program and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education.
Possibly some are offered a scholarship at some point this spring??? (Not really sure)
Received my acceptance email this afternoon! Mystatus still not updated. Excited to meet you guys!!
congrats @beedigger!
Hi guys- receives my Dean’s Scholars acceptance today
Received* also a Semifinalist for Forty Acres
My daughter got Deans decision today…now she is in plan 2 and Dean’s…@kenny…how did you get info on Forty? (via email?)
@ rksugarland …My son also got into Dean’s Scholar today. He is also in PLAN II and Deans scholar! He received an email from Dean’s Scholar and said package was in mail.
Got in! Received email last night
I was admitted to DS Honors, too. Got the email yesterday. I was a bit concerned due to my age (just turned 12). Other colleges that I applied to want to interview with me (not the regular interview with alumni but with the admissions director) before the decision (have a couple of those scheduled this week), but UT DS Honors program seems to appreciate my potential! Very happy!
@maxentius I’m impressed. What’s your intended major?
@beedigger Mathematics. Number Theory is my passion! What’s your major?
Accepted! Submitted Dec. 8, got an email Jan. 26.
ACT 36, 800 on Chem/Math II subject tests, top 2% at very large public school, no research experience.
I received information about Forty Acres semi finalists last Friday. I had my phone interview on Sunday and decisions for finalists are supposed to come out today.
We are still waiting to hear. My status says under review. ACT 36, SAT 2300, top 2 percent large public in state high school. Submitted before Oct. 15. Was this the last wave? If not, will they post not accepted to DS on mystatus? Any guidance here would be helpful.
@maxentius Also mathematics!!
@beedigger Awesome!
@fallfever I heard that the last wave will be in mid March. Your scores and ranking seem solid. Mine is SAT 2320, SAT 2 Math II 800, Physics 800, Chemstry 800, 7 APs (all 5) and 3.98/4.00 GPA in non-ranking public school (+ homeschooling until a year ago) and I got the acceptance letter last week (applied before October 15). I heard that DS Honors does a holistic admission, so showing the passion/research skill in your intended major through EC and essays seems to be important. Good luck!
I got an email from UT admissions regarding Forty Acres regarding my daughter. They told me only finalists are informed on the 29th and no emails if you are rejected. So if you have not received an y email on forty acres on the 29th Jan, consider yourself as rejected. But they also mentioned that there are other scholarships that will be awarded early spring…so hang on…i know couple people last few years got 2000 to 5000 per year (for CNS). My son (class of 2018) got 12k per year from engg school in march 2014. I was told that one has to be in honors class to get scholarship. Hope this helps.
So I applied to Dean’s Scholars at the beginning of November. I’m majoring in Physics. I haven’t gotten a notification yet for either acceptance or rejection. I have friends who got their BHP (Business Honors Program) as well as Turing Scholar’s results yesterday, on the 2nd. I’m really hoping that I at least receive notification, or is it safe to say that no email means rejection?
