UT Austin: Do I have a chance? And what major? Plz help.

Can someone plz chance me?
I would like to apply for Comp. Sci major but I know its pretty competitive. So will I have a chance of getting accepted for Biology? Or should I just go for Undeclared? Plz help.

GPA: 3.96
Weighted GPA: 4.25
AP courses: taken 4 and am and AP scholar
SAT New: 1340 out of 1600
Taking ACT on Dec 14 (Will it be too late?)

Extracurricular activities:

  1. Have 600+ volunteer hours in different areas
  2. Have won several Competitions at Austin Regional and TX State level
  3. Student Council member and official for my school
  4. Good recommendation letters
  5. Have been in charge of Summer Tech Camps for kids

We need to know your class rank. If you’re in the top 7 percent, it will be a reach for biology. The college of natural sciences had an average 30 act and 1400 sat. You’re a little off on test scores, but it looks like you would be pretty high in your class which could compensate.

I would apply for Computer Science as my first major and biology as my second in case I didn’t get in. You should never apply to a major just so you can get into the school then transfer into the major you’d want. That is not a risk you should take. If you ended up not being able to get into CS, what would you do?

On the ACT, you should contact the school. That’s a very serious question. I’d hate for you to get incorrect info just to take the test and spend time studying to not have it taken into consideration.

I’m not in top 7% of my class. Do I still have a chance for Comp. Sci or even Bio?
