UT-Austin Dual Degree Program

I am interested in the Dual Architecture/Architectural Engineering 6-year program at UT. I read on their website that only about 95 students are admitted each year into the entire school of architecture, so I'm assuming that very few get into the dual degree program.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience in this program. I also want to know my chances of being admitted.
I know they are slim because my grades aren't the best, nor is my class rank (I'm not in the top 8%/12 kids who will be automatically admitted to UT), but I do have very strong test scores, and my math and science grades are pretty solid.

What does it take to get into this program? And if I were to be accepted, what is it like? Basically any info regarding it will be very welcome and appreciated, thanks!!

UT has a 5 week summer program in architecture that is worth looking into if you want some exposure to the type of work you would be doing in the arch program. Not sure if the deadline for applying has already passed, however.

Thanks but the deadline passed yesterday…haha of course!
Anyone else have admissions/other info??

hey, i just finished my first year at UT SoA. the dual degree program isn’t that hard to get into. you just need to apply to both the school of architecture and the school of engineering. if you get into the architecture program, you’ll most likely get in to the engineering school. so it doesn’t really make a difference if you apply for the dual degree or just a B.Arch… not many people apply to do both because it’s a ridiculous workload and only like one or two people actually graduate with both degrees, i think. this past year, only like four to six people were headed the dual-degree route. if you have any further questions about UT feel free to message me

@yellowandsunny: so how’s the architecture program in UT Austin? Is it really hard?
and can you give me the stats you had when you applied to UT Austin so that I have an idea of the scores I need to aim for. And can you chance me?
My GPA is not that high: 3.31 (3.5 last semester)
but I took 5 APs, 1 IB, and 6 Honor classes.
SAT: 2030 (retaking during October)
SAT II Math: 780 Physics:660 (retaking it during November)
AP Physics: 4
AP Lang: 3
I’m an international student (Indonesian Chinese), so I guess it’s a lot harder for me to get into UT Austin.
Does legacy affect the admission, because I heard students have a higher chance of getting in if their parents or relatives went there?
I took TOEFL got 108/120.
Play basketball.
Chess Club leader.
Finished 8th grade in piano.
Helped people building houses in Nepal.
Got gold medal in Fermat canadian math contest
who a couple of intramural chess competition.
And does going to summer programs in architecture increase my chance?

Should I include that I love rapping and performed on stage a couple of times before?
Or is that inappropriate to be added into the application (the extra curricular part)?
I don’t know. My parents told me that colleges don’t care whether if I’m a good rapper.
They said it’s un-academic and it’s not one of those typical activities that people add in their applications.
