Hi all,
I was just admitted into UT Austin’s Liberal Arts Econ Program. I am considering taking courses my freshman year to transfer into McCombs. How difficult is it to maintain a 3.9+ at UT Econ freshman year? Also, how is acceptance into the Econ/MPA program? Please let me know!
As a freshman econ major you’ll mainly just be taking pre reqs (micro, macro) and then core requirements. It’s possible to get a 3.9 but it’ll be very hard, especially with UT using the +/- system. Research your professors heavily before registering to make sure you get classes where you’ll have a good chance of succeeding in. From what I’ve heard Econ/MPA is very difficult to get into, I think they take around 3-5 students a year.
were you admitted from out of state? or are you a texas resident?
I am an in-state resident of Texas
Having taken the AP courses for Micro and Macro, will I have the opportunity to place out of those and take more business courses? Also do you know where I can find the UT GPA/Grade scale?
Anyone know what percentage of students can successfully transfer into McCombs?
I was reading the transfer statistics of McCombs and each year, about 500 apply and around 97 get in… Quite competitive. Goodluck!
