UT Austin Fall 2019 Transfer

I applied to Liberal Arts, and have not been put in review yet, like others are saying. I submitted everything but LORs, because I am not submitting any - maybe that’s why I haven’t been put into review - any thoughts on if that’s why?

When did you turn in all the required documents? I also didn’t turn in any LORs, but am in review. I submitted all of the required documents around Feb. 25 I think.

Hi, I applied to McCombs for Finance as my first choice and Economics as my second. I am currently a Finance major at another UT System school and I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on my chances for admission. I got a 4.0 (16 credit hrs) in the Fall 2018 semester and I would say there is a pretty good chance I’ll get another one this semester (Spring 2019). I took Cal 1 last semester and took Macro over winter break as a mini-mester at a community college while home on break (I got an A in the class). I am currently taking Cal 2 and Micro this semester and from what I understand UT will wait until you finish your current semester to determine their decision. To me, everything seems to be good there, but here’s my issue. My junior year of high school I took 2 English dual credit classes and earned a B in both. Then, the summer before I left for college I took another 2 classes (Government and Precal) and earned another 2 B’s due to conflicts with my work schedule that summer. I did explain why I got took those summer classes in one of the admissions essays and the reason I earned the bad grades but I’m still very skeptical about getting accepted. I have some good EC’s related to my field, 2 LOR’s, and pretty solid essays (doesn’t everyone say that LOL). I am also a naturalized citizen, if that even means anything nowadays. In the end, those DC and summer classes might have screwed me over. What do y’all think?

I am also in review. I submitted my application early February, but my LORs just made the deadline.

Hi, I also went into review on Tuesday (March 5th) and I had everything submitted I believe 2 or 3 weeks before March 1st. Good luck everyone!

I submitted everything February 28th, but uploaded my transcript on March 1st, which was the last thing I submitted. Will going into review later than others hurt my chances?

Are there any McCombs applicants that haven’t done business math 2 or calc 2?

What does your “My Status” page say?

Wow ! people are already going into review ?! And admissions said less than two weeks ?! As someone who applied for admission last year i think that’s crazy!!! I didn’t hear back until late May! Hopefully this is because not as many people applied and there are higher chances for transfers to get in!

@gollymissmolly I’m in a similar situation, applied last year, several internships + job. Hopefully 2nd time’s a charm! :slight_smile:

Hey guys. I think this year we’ll have a better chance than last year’s external transfers. Last year there was a record amount of admitted freshman (around 19000) and this year about 17000 freshman are to be admitted. Hopefully this means there will be more positions open than last year.

Another thing I noticed is that last year the amount of Fall transfer applicants (like 8200 I think) stayed around the average amount (like 7500 to 8500) of transfer applicants per year despite lowering the required hours to transfer from 30 to 24. So maybe the amount of applicants will stay the same.

On the other hand,
We could expect though that this year the amount of applicants to increase because maybe not many people last year were aware of the decrease in required hours. Now that this rule has been set out for about a year, maybe more are applying.

Another thing to consider is that maybe there are a lot of reapplicants this year since such a high percentage were denied last year.

Anyways, this is total speculation from a hopeful applicant. The best thing to do is to focus on our lives and to not bet on getting admission since it’s so unpredictable.

Good luck everyone

I know many are thinking that my GPA is way to low to even be considered, heck even UT admissions guy told me to apply elsewhere. But, I couldn’t deal with the thought of always asking “what if?” had I not applied. I have a backup plan but UT has always been my #1.

Good luck everyone!

I just went into review. I applied for Public Relations.

@alirhasan96 Cal 2 is a requirement for admission to Mccombs

Has anyone else felt like their account was in review before the 1st? I could be mistaken but I swear that my account has said that for much longer than the past few days.

I don’t think so. Unless they’ve been reviewing and didn’t change the status in my status. But Monday, I checked and it said my application is complete etc. then Tuesday is when it changed to in review. But whatever happens, best of luck to all of us.

Mine still says complete. Should I be worried? I applied to Moody as a first choice and COLA as a second.
