hey yall,
i am currently a junior in high school but i am beginning to look more into my options for college with a major in fine arts. as a texas resident who has a sibling going to college currently, i would like to stay in state to save my family some money. theres not many good fine arts schools in texas but i am willing to settle for ut austin.
my stats:
-freshman year rank- 7.9%
-sophomore- 17% (yes ik :(( its a bad drop)
-junior/senior rank idk yet but based off my calculations and comparing with my upperclassmen friends i should be able to bring up my overall rank to 12-13ish%
-1350 on sat
-i have won several big art competitions (ex. state vase, houston rodeo finalist, scholastic)
-national art honor society officer
-member of chinese honor society, nhs, nahs, table tennis, etc
-varsity dance
-im in the top company of my dance school
-planning on completing atleast 10-12 ap courses and dual credit eng
i really really want to go to ut austin but when i search up info on whether their art program is even good i cant find anything. their faq on admission rate literally says “varies year by year, submit your portfolio and do your best”
i checked niche and it says ut barely has any graduates in the fine arts department. cant tell whether thats because theyre super selective or many art kids just choose not to go to ut for some fancy art school in the northeast.
if anyone has any input on their experience for ut austin art dep, please share! i would really appreciate it.
