Hello, I am an undergraduate Junior student at UT Austin, majoring in Civil Engineering.
I have some questions about transcript. During this summer, I am taking online courses in community college. And I am wondering if the admission (graduate school) committee checks the transferred credits/transcript from the community college. Do those transferred credits show up as letter grades, or are they just considered course credit without any letter grade?
It could be wrong, but I heard somewhere that when you apply for graduate school, they check the grades of transferred credits as well. Is this true?
If you apply to grad school, you usually need to submit transcripts from any college attended, including any community college. The issue of what is actually used to determine admission is then up to the grad school. At the college level, the community college courses are often accepted for credit and the community college will include any grade in the transcript it provides to the your four-year college (and also to any grad school), but many four-year colleges will either not include those grades when calculating your GPA, or show two GPA’s, one overall, and your university GPA calculated based only on courses taken at the university. For GPA used, the grad school gets to consider whatever it wants to consider and that may or may not include grades from CC courses.
