UT Austin Honors 2019 CNS - Turing and Deans

@PCMguy My D was offered admission to her major in early Dec, she is an auto admit(applied just a day or two before 10/15 priority deadline). We were wondering about the delay ourselves for a long time. In late Jan. she received an email stating that they sent an honors offer letter and asked her to register for one of the Honors Open sessions for admitted honors students. And it took about a week to receive the snail-mail in the same state. We attended their open session in mid Feb, they were saying that this year the general admissions process was such that the CNS department had the applicants info very late(I guess relatively to other years). We still see that our D’s status is what I described earlier, no change(as if there was no decision made for honors). You can probably email or call them to find out, at least, when to expect or whether all selections to Honors list is complete. Unfortunately I did not hear them mentioning any thing about these aspects in the session. As I said in some threads, they have 5 or 6 Honors open sessions for admitted students that started in late Jan. I recall from their RSVP invite, there are at least couple more sessions left, one in mid-March another in mid-April.

@collegePapa‌
Congrats to your daughter. Well, I probably call them and find out.However seeing people with such wonderful stats get rejected from honors, i pretty much know I’m not getting in.
Thanks a lot for the help though.

@PCMguy Good luck!

@PCMguy Any luck finding more info about your Honors app or general info on Honors application?

My son never got an acceptance or rejection from Dean’s Scholars. His online Mystatus still says he is being reviewed for CNS Honors. He has already received an acceptance from his major and also from Plan II Honors. He emailed CNS to ask about Dean’s Scholars notification but no reply. I called admissions today and asked about it and they said that Dean’s Scholars will notify him and that he will get something before the end of March. I am assuming it will be a rejection letter, but who knows.

@collegePapa‌
haha. No luck here. I have no expectations now so, no worries.
^ Works like a charm.

@collegefind Plan II is a good Honors program, what I know from some info session of Plan II a while back is that you can pick courses across desceplines as part of Plan II. Since he has his major also assigned per his choice, He can try for honors as freshman in it.
@PCMguy sorry to hear that you had no luck with any communication from UT.
