So far I've gotten a 4.0. And I will complete the required courses before I apply. What GPA will get me in the program for sure? Do they care about anything other than GPA? Do they look down on Community College transfers over people already in UT? Is there anything else I need to do to get in? Thanks for the help!

Jammy, for McCombs, the average external transfer GPA is 3.89. They also care about extracurricular activities and a well rounded resume. For the MPA program, if you get into McCombs, you will most likely be accepted. I transferred straight into the MPA program from a community college last semester and 90% of the applicants were accepted. They don’t look down on you, but you better be ready to keep up with your classmates because GPAs are assigned through a bell curve system. Classes are difficult and time consuming, but the hardest battle I had was getting adjusted to Austin. I rather be in my own room in Dallas. Lastly, try to find your class rank and attach it to your resume.

Good luck

Can you tell me anything else about getting into McCombs then? I assume you did the integrated MPA program. Does finishing the indicator courses (Econ and Calc 1 and 2) for McCombs undergrad during the spring put you at a disadvantage over finishing them in the fall? Do you mind telling me your GPA (you don’t have to of course) and any other tips for admission? How was the transition between the two colleges?

Sorry for all the questions, but I REALLY want to get into McCombs and I think I have a decent shot. You’re the first person who has given me a straight answer so far…

Thanks anyway SO much. I really appreciate it!
