From reading the pre-screen thread, I see a lot of folks (including my D20!) auditioning at UT Austin for music. D20 passed the prescreens there and will audition in January. Hubby and I plus all of our siblings went to UT Austin but not for music. D20’s voice teacher is not super excited about UT Austin, but this may be because she doesn’t know anyone there. Can anyone offer any insight to their music program? What attracted you to apply? It was only really on our radar due to family “history” at the school and relative closeness to home.
What type of voice study is your D interested in? Opera? Choral?BM, BA or music Ed?
She is kind of all over the place (i.e. hasn’t figured that out yet). She might very well switch to Music Ed at some point (and that’s how she applied to UNT) but is definitely pursuing a B.M. In vocal performance at most places where she’s applied—with the exception of a B.F.A. In musical theatre from one place. She is classically trained but also does decent amounts of musical theatre. She loves opera but has had no experience personally with it other than studying arias!
