I'm planning to finish an associate of science from my local community college next spring, and I'd like to try to get into UT Austin's Neurobiology program.

My high school transcript is terrible, with a GPA around 2.3 or so, and I got it from an alternative school(more on that later).

My current plan of study will bring me up to core complete, calculus ready, and I'll have the two-semester series of courses designed for science majors in biology and general chemistry, and the algebra level series for physics. I have a couple course I took overseas while in the Marines, and a couple at UT Arlington(more on this as well). So far I have a 4.0 for courses taken at my community college. I'll probably be able to get into PTK and graduate with honors.

Now for the caveats. I was suspended for one semester from UT Arlington because I failed a handful of courses and got Cs in what I passed. I could return to Arlington at this point, but I'm doing so well that I'd prefer to just finish my AS where I am. The primary difference is the lack of an attendance policy, as well as some changes in my life.

After leaving Arlington, I received diagnoses for a range of mental illnesses including ADHD. With treatment many of earlier difficulties are getting easier. The primary problem at Arlington wasn't poor grades on assignments, which I did pretty well on, actually. The problem was my perpetual tardiness and absenteeism, which at Arlington is counted against your grade directly.

I don't know what other information would be useful, but does anyone, preferably someone familiar with the particular school in question, have any insight into my current chances and what could be done to help ensure I get where I want to go?
