UT Austin Nursing

So, I heard the chances of externally transferring to UT nursing are bad. Awful, actually. BUT I still want to hear everyone’s feedback. I just finished freshman year at a community college and applied to UT nursing for fall of 2016.
-Does anyone know how the process works?
I applied with a 3.9 GPA, awesome essays, work as a CNA, two rec letters (one from the Chief Nursing Officer from the hospital I work at)…do I even have a shot?

Hi there! Similar stats to you in a similar situation…did you end up getting accepted?

Are you a Texas resident? Out-of-state admissions at UT are notoriously-difficult.

I’ve lived in Texas my whole life. I’m currently finishing up my sophomore year at UTD as a Biology major with a 3.85 GPA (4.0 GPA last semester). I feel as if my essays are really compelling and I have volunteer experience in a hospice as well as long-term volunteer work at a food pantry. No rec letters yet. Not sure if high school still matters but I finished top 7% in an excellent school district.

Somewhat discouraged after reading these forums about how difficult external transfer into UT nursing is…it’s been a dream of mine.
