UT Austin or TCU

Ok I really need help?!

I can either go to UT Austin under the CAPS program. So I have to go to and UT branch for a year like UT tyler and then I can go to UT Austin automatically sophomore year.

OR

I can go to TCU starting freshman year and somehow figure out how I'm gonna pay for it.

Any opinions?

Figure out how you’re going to pay how much? What are your parents willing to contribute?

Do not borrow a ton of money to go to TCU.

Ok thanks!
Yeah TCU is just sooo expensive and we would probably have to get loans if I was not able to get any scholarships. So I’m not so sure it is worth it in the end.

And I don’t want to be a burden for my parents by going to TCU

Go to UT Tyler for a year and transfer to UT for your sophomore year. A year’s tuition at UT Tyler is extremely affordable compared to the other public universities in Texas. Plus, the small student body means small class sizes, which is great for those core curriculum courses (especially calculus) you’ll need to get out of the way. You’ll make friends with other CAPS students that will be transferring with you, and then you’ll have three long years at UT where you’ll be very happy and thinking how silly is was even thinking of going to TCU.

TCU and SMU are schools for filthy rich Texans who want to be around and party with others like themselves. To make it less obvious, the schools try to recruit students from lower socioeconomic statuses by offering lots of merit aid, need-based aid and sports scholarships. If they didn’t offer you full-ride or at least full-tuition and your family will have to struggle paying your cost of attendance, then the school isn’t for you. Besides, if you ever plan to move outside of Texas, a degree from UT will always trump a degree from TCU.

Ok thanks for the help! Do you go to UT?

Plus I really want to go to UT so the year in Tyler is worth it in my opinion. Especially financially.
