UT Austin or Texas A&M?

I am currently enrolled at a community college and I want to transfer to one of these schools next year. I'll be visiting each campus soon but I'd really like the opinion of which college you think is better - please - don't rudely call out the other school just because you're a Longhorn or an Aggie. Explain why yours is good, not why the other school is "full of idiots" or why the other team sucks compared to yours. I don't care about teams.

A little bit about myself, if that helps:
-I was raised in NYC so urban setting > everything else.
-I'm a liberal minded atheist who loves diversity.
-I'm very artistic and I spend my spare time looking up new music or reading.
-My grades in high school were terrible which is why I'm attending a junior college to bring up my GPA.

I know it's not wise to base a college decision on your personality but it would be nice to be around people with similar interests.

I saw the word “liberal”. Go to UT Austin! More prestigious, better education, definitely more diverse, EVERYTHING!

Oh, but neither school will be very supportive of your atheism, though. UT Austin is definitely the more liberal of the two, but there’s still an overwhelming majority of Christians. But still, if you had to pick between one of the two, go to UT. The students at Texas A&M might actually lynch you for being a liberal atheist.

UT Austin is much more liberal. it isn’t the same type of liberal you’re going to find in like Boston or LA though. From my experience people are less judgmental than places on the east or west coast. In Austin people aren’t really going to care if you’re an atheist or a deeply religious person whereas in a lot of places on the east or west coast people will expect you to be incredibly liberal and if you aren’t they’ll assume you’re uneducated or something. Austin is just more chill you are who you are and if you aren’t an a-hole you’re good. Plus it is probably one of the coolest college towns in the country and the music scene is unbelievable (live music capital of the world). College Station is pretty meh. It is very conservative (we were actually talking about UT vs A&M and this one kid who wants to go to A&M was talking about how there are too many gay people in Austin).

Oh and I don’t go to either of them but I live in Texas and have friends that go to both but if I did I’d probably go to UT the only thing is UT is HUGE. Remember that UT has like 40,000 undergrads but if you’re from NY and you like being around a lot of people you’ll probably like that.
