Please help me with a dilemma. I'm kind of caught between which school I should attend. I'm a girl who's stuck with what to do. I'm a pretty normal girl. I like to shop and look nice. Fashion is a top priority for a school's area for me. I've already locked down my major (Nursing) but I can't choose between UT Arlington and UT Austin. Like other, I have not yet been accepted into my major at UT. However I have been accepted to UT Arlington. I don't just want to go to UT because everyone's going there and follow the hype. But I don't just want to make a mistake and go to a school that I won't like.

I have yet to visit both schools yet but I will. I've only gone based on what I've heard. For UT I've heard that it's an amazing school and very school spirited but I've heard that the classes are very hard and difficult. I really don't want to fail a class. I guess that's my only turn off of ut is not passing and stressing myself out about my classes.

For UT Arlington I've heard it's a beautiful school with great programs. I'm worried about the whole idea that there may not be any school spirit there. I want a school that has lots of love for the school. Also I hear many students are commuters and I can't tell if that's a good thing or not. I mean to me UT Arlington is a good school but everyone says it can't compare to UT Austin which confuses me.
Every where I go I see UT Austin things and I can't help but question if that's a sign. I mean if I don't get accepted to UT Austin then I'm going to UT Arlington.

Please help me with the pros and cons of each school and finding the right school for me. I can't seem to choose a school. My heart says one school and my mind says another. Please help.

You need to get both acceptance letter to MAJOR from UT and financial aid letters from both universities. It will be much easier to decide. Right now you just don’t have enough information.

Assuming all things were equal (as in you were accepted to your major in both and cost was equal) there would be absolutely no competition. UT Austin, the flagship, has incomparably more to offer, and the degree is worth more to employers. Austin is one of the greatest cities on earth, and the college experience on campus can’t compare to Arlington. The resources and professors here are among the best in Texas. UT Austin is one of the original eight “public Ivies” for a reason. Likewise, it is the UT system’s flagship for a reason. And don’t be motivated by fear of doing poorly in classes; if you’re accepted to your major and you work hard, there is no reason why you can’t do well in your classes.

i was accepted into austin, dallas, and arlington. i am originally from southern california. i lived all around the dfw area for a few years while i went to tarrant county college. arlington is a… not very nice place to live compared to austin. i just started going to austin in august 2012 and i am already falling in love with it. yes, the classes are harder, but i am not sure they are just hard because i am used to community college classes. my grades are actually pretty much the same.
no one in their right mind would choose arlington over austin. future employers will definitely look at that. i was not raised in texas, so i don’t understand the whole obsession over ut. i only chose it because it was a great school and a public ivy. i had a much, much better financial aid package offered by arlington and dallas, but i couldn’t pass up austin.
i think it really depends on where you think you’ll fit in. austin is not like the rest of texas. arlington IS what texas is. austin is more like california than texas. there are much more things to do in austin and it just generally has a richer culture. i’m visiting dfw right now for the holidays and i am just so freaking bored.
UT also has world-renowned professors who are at the top of their field. arlington’s are pretty nameless. i guess that only really matters if you’re worried about your resume. i found it pretty easy to get involved in research with a very well-known professor/scientist here.

Hard work trumps everything else. For a complete college experience, UT Austin is the one to go to. Instead of worrying about your grades, imagine how great it would be if you were willing to work hard to make good grades and also enjoy everything UT has to offer. If you are willing to work hard when you need to, then your grades will be where you want them to be at UT Austin.
