UT Austin has offered me about $10,000/year and UT Dallas has offered free tuition + $7,000/year. Money is quite important to me but not if UT Dallas will ruin my life or something.

any help is very appreciated!

Assuming you’re from Texas, you’re going to have to pay about $40,000 total for UT which is more respected and probably better education, but UTD is paying you $28,000 which you could put towards grad school or just be very flexible for the first years of your life out of college. What are you majoring in because UTD might have an engineering department on par with UT since Texas Instruments has it’s headquarters in Dallas.

I don’t think UTD will ruin your life, but $10,000/year for UT might work for you

Depends on your major. UTD has outstanding STEM departments.

Major?
How much debt would UTA put you in?
Career you are interested in?

UGH i cant believe i forgot to mention - mechanical engineering but I am open to other majors.

If you can stay home and take the money from UTD, there is no reason not to. However, if you can afford to spend the money to go to Austin without borrowing, it is a better choice for engineering.

It would be difficult to turn down a $30,000 cost difference without a good reason.
