UT Austin Petroleum Engineering

I'm a junior in HS interested in petroleum engineering at UT Austin.
I am out of state
Here are some of my stats:
1420 sat for math and reading
(730-reading, 690-math)
5.3 weighted gpa out of 6.0
Probably top 15% of class (10th best school in my state if that matters)
A few ECs: cross country, track, NHS, a few clubs, volunteer at animal shelter, work at summer camp
Course load senior year:
AP Calculus AB
AP Physics C
AP English
AP Spanish
AP Psych
Planning on taking ACTs (hoping for 32-34 and SAT subject tests: math II, physics, us history
What are my chances of getting in?
What can I improve on to increase my chances?

UT-Austin McCombs: Reach

Try Oklahoma…

It’s Cockrell not McCombs

@Catria Could you elaborate on what I could improve on perhaps? I know my SAT is a bit above average for petroleum engineering but I know UT is all about that ranking and I know my ECs don’t include saving the world, but I just kept my ECs to a minimum in this forum so I didn’t write 8 paragraphs about them. And my grade is about 225 kids so I’m probably around 35/225. I realize I’m probably still a reach, I just want to know what I can do to improve

You tried the ACT?

@Catria Ya, I got a 30. It was basically just a practice run as I didn’t really study. I’m taking it again in a few weeks. I know that ut only looks at math and reading for the sat. Do you know if they only look at math and reading for the act?

At least the target score you set by yourself is realistic… and will realistically help you.

Thank you

Any other opinions?
