Hello there, I’m really interested in applying to scholarships for electrical engineering at UT Austin that are solely based on academic/extracurricular merit. I’m looking university scholarship. Which scholarship can I apply for? Please be specific.
Thanks for the help!!!
Texas Exes offers 600+ scholarships (one on-line application) to UT students many are merit only some are a combination of merit and need. http://scholarships.texasexes.org/
UT itself offers very little merit aid
Good luck with that. Aside from the Texas Exes scholarship program (the deadline is 12/1 so you’d better get moving) UT offers very little merit. The department literally is full of top 7% high stat kids from all over the state and even NMFs who get…nothing. A UT admissions officer once told an audience that the offer of admission WAS the gift from the university and therefore implying that those expecting a further “gift” in the form of merit $$ would be left holding out their hands.
What happened between now and last year when you were searching for OOS schools and told people you could afford them?
It seems to be common knowledge that there in not much merit aid for UT. The legislature does not suppport higher ed enough in Texas. They keep tuition as low as they can.
Did you apply to one of the honors programs? There is money in the honors programs, but it’s extremely competitive. My D got a very nice scholarship through BHP last year; and I know a number of others who also got money from BHP and one of the other honors programs.
(Note that very few OOS even get accepted)
@itsgettingreal17 when did you learn last year that she received a scholarship through bhp?
I believe it was in December.
Yes @itsgettingreal17 I did apply for EHP. I haven’t heard back yet.
@ShieldOfGod EHP is quite difficult to get.
What are your stats like?
