I'm thinking about applying to UT Austin, but I'm out of state and have a low class rank (which I've heard makes it difficult to get in). Is it even worth applying?

3.5uw/3.7w gpa
33 ACT
top 30% class rank

It’s always worth applying.

Except it costs money to apply and send ACT scores. Also I don’t want to waste my time applying if I have no chance of getting in.

the cost is relatively little, 33 act is hella good so u might as well try

I’ll be frank: there’s not a lot of hope. I don’t mean to say that you’re a bad student, but UT-A is a pain to get into even if you’re from Texas. Because of Texas public school policy, they have to take in a certain number of our kids based solely on rank (top 7% in their case). The others who get in have either a specialty/a clincher/minority status.

I’m top 8% in-state and there’s still a strong chance that I’ll be rejected. It stinks.

Well, my school did send one person to McCombs last year, but he did have a 4.0. Not sure what his ACT was though, probably a little less than mine.

You’ll get CAP’d for sure if you don’t get in.

What are your extracurriculars like?
Also, what is your intended major; if your major is not impacted, you may have a higher chance of being admitted.

Also, would anyone be up to chance me?
