This thread is for students who applied for UT Fall 2018-2019! If anyone has received their admission decisions yet feel free to share. I’m currently waiting on mine, and since it is a holistic review, the decision is unexpected.
I was told by admissions that they aren’t looking at the fall transfers until March 1 and that decisions (for those currently over 24 credits) would start coming out in April. For those that won’t have 24 credits until May, those won’t be looked at until spring transcripts are sent
Submitted my application this past week. If anyone would be willing to chance me, that’d be really awesome.
Currently an out of state freshman (Computer Engineering major) at a large public university applying for Sophomore transfer.
Current Credits: 22 Semester Units (will have around 45 before enrolling at UT)
Cumulative College GPA (Current University + Dual Enrollment Credit): 3.81
ACT Score (Do they even care?) - 31 Cumulative, 36 Writing, 30 English, 31 Math, 34 Reading, 28 Science
1st Choice Major: Computer Science
2nd Choice Major: Electrical and Computer Engineering
Essays: 8/10 imo
Recommendation Letter: 1 from an English Professor, haven’t read it (I’ve only had 1 quarter of college, and all my other professors taught larger classes so I wasn’t able to develop a real relationship with them)
Extracurriculars/Resume - Decent and diverse imo
Ethnicity/Gender: Asian Male
We have pretty much the same credentials lol. Except I dont really think I have many substantial extracurriculars. What did you include?

If you are applying for CS/Engineering, I’d have your rec letters be from STEM instructors. Rec letters are helpful only if they fit your goals and circumstances, so a rec letter from an English instructor probably won’t help for CS/Engineering admissions.
Hey, I am applying to CNS from a Texas Community College. I have a 4.0 on 30 completed credit hours, as of January 2018. I think my GPA will drop to a 3.91 after this semester since Biology 2 is not going too well. I would appreciate if anyone could chance me! I would enter UT with at least 45 credit hours since graduation in June 2017.
1st Choice Major: Biochemistry
2nd Choice Major: Chemistry
Essays: 7/10, not really a passionate writer.
Recommendation Letter: 1 from a UT Alumnus, 1 from a colleague at work (I have a pretty impressive position as a student, I work in healthcare), and 1 from a biology professor.
Extracurriculars/Resume - Outstanding, lots of work in clinical sites, 600+ community service hours, work in humanitarian and special education services.
Concerns: I wasn’t brilliant in high school. I was an A- student at a large Texas high school. Does anyone know if admissions will look at Spring semester grades?
Hello to you all. I hope everyone here is doing great and hopefully you’ll receive the news on being accepted into UT Austin. I currently attend UT Austin and this is my first and unfortunately will be my last semester here. I’ve currently signed a lease at the Rio West apartments located in West Campus off 2704 Rio Grande St, Austin Texas, 78705. The room you would be staying is a 4 bed 4 bath apartment and you will be roommate matched with other people. Monthly rent is $699 and that includes cable and internet. You will have to pay for electricity and water. There is no hidden fees associated with picking up the lease except for paying the security deposit which is $100 and do have the option to pay that at any time. Move in date for this apartment is 08/18/2018. Thanks and if anyone is interested, let me know. Have a great day!
