UT Austin Transfer Question 2024 McCombs

I am currently a college freshman applying to transfer to UT Austin this coming fall semester to begin my sophomore year. My first choice major is McCombs, but when you transfer you are not required to state your major and I don’t plan on majoring in accounting but it is part of my majors degree plan.

I was wondering if it would help my first choice admissions chances if I took Accounting 2 here at my current college or if it wouldn’t make a difference. With the extra time, I could focus on other parts of my life like work or a business etc, but if it will help me gain admission to my major, then I will take the course. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I don’t think it helps nor hurt your chances by enrolling in that accounting course. Although, if you have a passion or interest in accounting perhaps you can take that for your own knowledge? What does impact your transfer app for Mccombs is whether or not you have taken (or in progress) Calculus I & II, as well as macro & microeconomics.
