UT Austin Turing Scholars or UC Berkeley EECS

Trying to decide between UT Austin's Turing Scholars program and
UC Berkeley EECS(non honors). UT Austin will be in-state, and UC's cost is
around 58K a year.

What kind of opportunities will we miss, if we take UT Austin instead of
UC Berkeley?

Will the internships, job offers be better by going to UC Berkeley?

Is it worth the extra 150K that we have to spend to go to UC Berkeley?

There may be some advantage at Berkeley for recruiting by smaller Silicon Valley companies, and some advantage at UT Austin for recruiting by smaller Austin area companies (big companies like GAFAM recruit widely, so they are likely to show up at both).

But the difference between two broadly similar universities, both very good in your major, is not worth $150,000.

Just read through this thread for some viewpoints: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1486323-ut-austin-full-ride-vs-uc-berkeley-full-cost.html

Note that the OP in the other thread did get a full ride at UT Austin, so the price difference is even larger for the OP in the other thread.

However, I doubt many (or any) of the respondents would change their opinion in this case where the OP here is paying what appears to be in-state list price at UT Austin. $150,000 is still a huge amount of money for relatively minor differences between schools.
