Hi! I’ve narrowed down my choices to these two schools, but I am having a really hard time deciding between both of them At UT I was accepted into the civil engineering major and at UIUC I was accepted into Undeclared Engineering, so I have to declare my major at the end of the first year, additionally cost is about the same at both. Firstly, I would like to know how they compare academically, specifically for engineering and any first-hand experience from past or current students would be awesome! Also, I would like to know for which reasons you would pick one of these schools if you had to make this decision yourself. Any thoughts would be really helpful.
They’re both amazing engineering schools. I’ve visited both of their engineering departments, they have great resources.
I’d personally choose UT because it doesn’t get as cold during the winter.
I’d personally go with fit. They are both top engineering schools. And I personally like the flexibility of not being forced in to one major (though some majors at UIUC are harder to get in to than others as UE).

@PurpleTitan what do you mean by the flexibility, is it very hard to change engineering majors at UT
Possibly. You need to explore. @ucbalumnus?
Cost?
@WildestDream Cost is about the same, UT is about 53k, UIUC is about 58k, both full pay
