UT Austin Wait List

I am on the UT Austin wait list this year and I'm wondering how many people have gotten accepted off of the wait list and when did you find out about it? Are they also going to give your financial aid report when you get your acceptance? It's so close to deposit deadline date that I'm getting scared D:

UT probably won’t move on the waitlist until after May 1st, when they have a clear picture of how many people accepted their enrollment offer. If they have room in the freshman class after that, they will probably open the waitlist.

My S wanted to go there so I was checking out your threads and thought I’d let you know there is a WL thread you may be interested in: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1129279-2011-going-off-their-waitlist-3.html#post12535787</a> and also last year your school is listed as going off on May 1st. Please post there if you get off the WL or know anyone who does. Thanks! Good luck to you.

You have to double check this, but I have heard that UT accepted about 80% of their wait list last year. Also, it will help if you’re in state.

@ak7777, Good luck. I can see that you love UT Austin as much as we do. I will love to read on this thread that you got accepted. I am also praying my daughter gets accepted. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Thank you @whistlingpine! :slight_smile: I really hope your daughter gets in as well. So far I haven’t heard of anyone I know get in through the wait list so I guess we have to wait some more. Which means I should probably put down an A&M/Baylor deposit.

Has anyone heard about any movement on the wait list? My S is wait listed and we were hoping there would be a lot of movement after May 1. I heard of someone getting in on appeal yesterday and thought UT was looking at the wait list people before they accepted appeals. Has anyone heard anything? Hoping it happens very soon b/c I know the wait list is only a few hundred students!!

I saw on the waitlist thread that UT Waitlist had come off, but my daughter’s status has not changed. I think I check every 10 minutes - hopeless, I know!

@texasmomx2. I know what you mean- we check morning noon and night! I was surprised by the post saying someone was accepted on appeal. I asked about writing an appeal and theybtold me that they wouldn’t review appeals until after they cleared the wait list. I just wish it wasn’t so hard to get official info about where things stand. Good luck everyone!

We have been checking almost every hour too and have not seen any status change. I called UT and they told me what I already know. That we’ll hear from them by May 13th. I hope we all hear good news soon.

Has anyone heard anything?

According to all the threads, almost no one has gotten off so far except for a couple of people.

With only 2 days left to the May 13 waitlist acceptance deadline for UT Austin, I wonder if they had a higher yield than they projected. It does not seem like their waitlist has moved very much. I called again today, but could not get any information on whether they are still accepting students or not. I was told to keep checking the status page. :-(

I know that last year that did not admit anyone off the wait list until the final day, which was May 14. And they offered admission to the entire list. We’ll see what happens this year…

ACCEPTED TO UT AUSTIN :DDDDDDDDDDD
I’m now officially a baby longhorn!

@ak7777 Congratulations on your acceptance to UT Austin. I’m so glad you got in. My daughter was not as lucky. She’s accepted the CAP agreement for UTD so hopefully she’ll make it to UT next year. We wont give up!!!

@whistlingpine
I just completed my CAP year and will be attending UT Austin in the Fall. If you have any questions, let me know

@faded11autumn
Thanks. I’m sure we will have a lot of questions. And congratulations on successfully completing the CAP year. I’m sure you’ll have a great time at UT. Which UT system school did you go to? and how hard is it to complete the CAP requirement?
