Overly-worried high school student here graduating in 2017 so UT is taking in the top 7% automattically
Got two desperate questions since I’m border lining that 7%
As of right now, my ranking would be 7.7%
- Is that considered top 7% auto admission?!
- Will my rank that I’m sending to UT be the one at the end of my junior year or the one at the beginning of senior year?
(my school updates ranking when the year ends and when it starts)
(people at my school are definitely going to bail out of my school this summer for another public school so the senior class will be tiny)
- 7.7% is not considered 7%.
I only know that because this year’s auto-admit cut off was 8% and my daughter was 8.8%. She was not auto admit, but she did get accepted, so take heart.
- I am not sure. Would the end of the year rank differ from beginning of year? I guess if summer classes were counted? It is whatever is on your transcript when you send it in the fall when you apply.
Good luck!
From the UT Web site : “Each fall, the university notifies Texas school officials of the class rank that current high school juniors need to attain by the end of their junior year in order to be automatically admitted.”
