UT, Berkeley or UVA : Business(Accounting Major)

Please help me by giving your opinions if it were you or your sons/daughters to choose for. Thank you in advance!

It would be tough, I know UT’s accounting program is ranked #1 so that would be a huge plus for Texas. But, on name recognition of Diploma, it would go Berkeley>UVA>Texas, at least IMO.

If you can get into the integrated MPA program at Texas, I would take advantage of that hands down. You’re pretty much guranteed a job at a top accounting firm, whether you stay in Texas or not.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles (15 years), The Bay Area (during summers and winter breaks), and Houston (past 3 years), and I have to say that the environment at ut is amazing. Overall, you have to do what’s best for you, but also consider that you are going to make whichever collee you choose your home for the next 4 years.

Don’t just rely on name recognition.

Good Luck !

Thank you LonghornDan! Thats absolutely what everyone tells me. This is a huge dilemma which is bad for me:(

Thank you very much caligirl23. You made a great point! I plan to get into the integrated MPA program at UT if I go there. I love your quote “Don’t just rely on name recognition.” It is absolutely true! Really appreciate your comment!:)

Overall rank: Berkeley>UVA>UT
Business: UT> Berkeley>UVA

Especially if you want to major in accounting, UT is the ultimate choice.

I will expand more.
You cannot go wrong with any of them. Just visit the campuses and see where you feel at home at. Also, look into the field you are interested in and try to figure out where they like to recruit and hire people from. Certain fields (like Investment banking) will favor certain schools.

I went to UT because of in-state tuition makes UT is a very appealing school. However, neglecting tuition. I would rank:
Haas > McCombs > McIntire

McIntire isn’t even really a business school. Darden is the UVA b-school, but it’s for MBA only.

Haas. Whoever said UT>Berkeley in Business is not correct.

does berkeley even have an accounting major?

berkeley is the place to be for an overall well rounded RECOGNIZED education
