I'm aware of McComb's standing in undergrad b-schools, but have also heard a lot of great stuff about the BHP. One interviewer from the BHP went as far as to saying that "it's a shame that they don't rank honors program, because the BHP would easily be up at the top."

Being a Texas resident, I would qualify for in-state tuition; would the BHP be too hard to pass up on when compared to lets say.. Wharton?

I'm in BHP, and it's a great option. I was kind of upset that I got rejected from Wharton my freshman year, but after just finishing up my 5th semester in BHP, I think I would have a hard time switching to any other school based upon my experiences

The teachers, students, and courses are excellent. And the opportunities after graduation are fantastic as well. There also is quite a big divide between typical honors type student and normal McCombs type student in terms of all the elements I listed above.

If you graduate from Wharton or BHP you will (most likely) be highly successful. Given that, I wouldn't say BHP is "too hard to pass up," but it will deliver a much better return on investment. Aside from that, you'd be living in Austin which would be considered a positive to most.

I can't say that I have experienced either, but I had to make the same decision between the two this year. I am a lifelong longhorn don't get me wrong (brother, sister, cousins, parents all went through their business school and some in BHP) but lets just say the next four years I am going to be a quaker ;). Both are great, but I just couldn't pass up being at the number one school. Just to repeat some advice I recieved, inside of Texas they are the same, outside Wharton is on top. It all matters where you see yourself after the four years. But before you decide, remember wharton is a crapload more than texas, and if you have the credintials to get into wharton, you can probably get some decent scholarships to texas to make it even cheaper. Thats just my two cents. Goodluck with whicheither one you chose!

I definitely agree with all of what Cougar09 has said. Both program are great and I've heard tons of great things about McCombs. But if I had to choose, I would go with Wharton just due to the powerful name it has across the country. You can bring a lot with that name on your resume.
