UT CAP Program Advice

So I recently accepted my admission for UT Austin’s CAP program. I was too late to sign up for UTA or UTSA, so I have to spend a year in Tyler Texas( which if you’ve ever been…you know…). I really want to be a filmmaker/actress and want to apply to Moody School of Communication for the Radio-Television-Film program.I know it’s hard to transfer in, but that’s what I want to do with my life( or at least the direction I want to take for now, I mean who knows maybe I’ll transfer to another school in Cali?).

I was just wondering if anyone had any general advice on the CAP process, tips for applying to Moody from CAP, and just any information about living and going to school in Tyler.

I have a friend who went to UT Tyler as a non-cap student, but did end up transferring into UT Austin after her year in Tyler. I visited her twice up there, and in all honestly, it is an isolated town. Here’s the thing, there are other CAP students there as well. Make friends, stick together, go out to parks, have movie nights, visit downtown Dallas. I remember enjoying the town’s scenery and quietness. My friend was always homesick up there, but she made do. I do not know anything else about the Moody school, but feel free to message me if you want to ask my friend questions!!!

Thanks for the reply!
