which should i choose? thanks, btw i'm planning on majoring in computer science

if you’re dying to go to UT austin i recommend doing CAP at UTSA, it’s so easy and seriously not as bad as it seems
i’m a CAP student at UTSA right now, and i can safely say i will be attending UT austin in the fall

If a computer science major is a very strong desire of yours AND you have a good shot of getting into that major, then the UT CAP is your best bet hands-down. If a computer science major is more of “I’ll try it out”, then visit each of the very different campuses, if at all possible, and then make your choice. Each offers a considerably different “look and feel”. Suburban UTD is a lot different than urban U of H which is a lot different than West Texas anchored Texas Tech. Of course, you also need to decide which feeder campus, UTA, UTSA, etc. will be your choice.

thanks. and i’m pretty sure about computer science, however i have been admitted to computer science in UH, Texas Tech, and UTD. So wouldn’t UT CAP put me behind a year since i won’t be able to take any computer science courses during CAP?

The great news is you have lots of good choices. The UT CAP folks and UT Comp Sci department should be able to answer in detail your question of: “So wouldn’t UT CAP put me behind a year…?” They should be able to tell you the prerequisite courses for the UT Comp Sci major, whether those courses are available in your freshman year at the feeder campus, etc. I haven’t looked at any Comp Sci department ratings, but my guess is that UT-D would have a very strong comp sci department with Texas Instruments and other tech heavy companies close by their campus and hiring their graduates. The downside, not much of a campus life overall (lots of commuters, etc.) Upside of Texas Tech is lots of campus life, but I don’t know how their comp sci department is rated. Again, lots of good choices you have.
