UT Class of 2017

Thanks, my stats were:

-Rank: 3/126
-SAT: 1200 Composite
-ACT: 26
-33 hours of college credit
-10 AP Courses

I know my test scores are nothing to boast over, but I think what helped me substantially were my extra currics. I held state level leadership positions for a business organization, and competed nationally for business plans I constructed. I also had good letters of rec. and great essays.

I hope I can give those who are not great test takers hope!! They do look at applications holistically, and if you did awesome things outside of the classroom, it could give you the edge!! Good luck to all applicants, and I hope to see many of y’all in the Fall! Hook 'em! \m/

Thank you for that. My test scores are right around yours. But I come from a small school so we have very few extracurricular activities besides sports. So I hope what I submitted is enough to get me in.

Ha…If only they would overlook my 1360/2050

So far everyone who has been accepted into mccombs has been around top 4%. I do t k ow if my top 6% is going to cut it. :(

McCombs has always been competitive like that. Hope you’ll make it though!

@FullMetalx I’m top 1% and still waiting. I’m just praying that its enough to help pull me through

I’m 5.6% and was accepted to McCombs also my test scores were right on average for McCombs.

@tjanderson
Congrats! When did you hear from them and when did you apply?

I got accepted into Cockrell school of engineering for Chemical Engineering, back in November.

UT is throwing out Mccombs acceptances crazy fast! I applied like a couple days before Dec 1st deadline and I got mine today so ya’ll should see it anytime now!

Woke up to a status change that says Congratulations… Accepted in to College of Journalism. I am an OSS and so excited to be a Longhorn!

got into aerospace engineering at Cockrell yesterday!
3.98/4.38 UW/W
35 ACT
only 1 AP taken prior to this year but 4 other honors classes. I am enrolled in 3 APs and 1 honors right not
high school lacrosse 4 years
tutoring
no crazy community service hours

Congratulations to all accepted so far. We are still waiting.

@xmaswish…did you get an email letting you know that your decision was posted. Do you mind posting your stats. My D applied as an English major and we are also oos. UT has such a great reputation. You are lucky to have the opportunity to attend.

Nothing today either… I wonder how they go about checking applications. Does the last name matter? My last name starts with a Y

I have also been waiting…Petroleum Engineering. Applied mid October. Auto Admit…but have heard nothing else…I hope soon! My last name is H so I’m sure alphabet is not relevant. I heard first auto admits…then for Engineering they first look at Rank…GPA then SAT/ACT…then holistic. My SAT and ACT were not great.
I’m top 7.7%…GPA 4.85…but ACT was only 27 composite. Did get a 30 in math. SAT - 1750. Lots AP’s. Does anyone think I have a chance at Cockrell?

Cockrell acceptance posted online today!!

Have any OOS Computer Sci. Major received their acceptances recently?

petereh:
I’m also waiting on Cockrell…Petroleum Engineering. Let’s stay in touch on our statuses.
I am NOT an auto-admit.
GPA 4.85/3.60 W/UW
SAT 2150 (Math 750; Reading 740; Writing 660)
Lots of EC’s (including Football and Baseball…Both Varsity all 3 years).
Good community service hours and associations with charitable organizations.

Concerned that non auto-admit status is going to prevent me from having a real shot at Cockrell…especially Petroleum Engineering given its high demand.

Let me know as your status changes.

My daughter is still waiting to hear from Cockrell ChemE. She attended the Honors Colloquium and WE@UT this past summer and Best of Texas this fall. She is in the top 3% and was an auto admit. GPA 98 unweighted, SAT 2060 M 690 R 720 ACT 31 band, swimming, academic UIL. Mostly AP and honors classes and is taking AP Calc, AP BIo, AP Stat and Dual English this year. Scored a 5 on the AP Chem test. She received the Tier 1 scholarship from U of H worth 58K and she is seriously considering giving up on UT and taking it. Not sure why she hasn’t heard yet. Any ideas?

I would guess ChemE admission categorizes the applicants into several categories: Definitely, Yes, Probably, Maybe, and No, based mainly on class rank and SAT/ACT scores, plus notable EC’s. All of the “Definitely” and most of the “Yes” should have been offered admission at this point. Those who are in the lesser categories (for whatever reason: SAT, rank, etc.) will need to wait a little longer.
