UT Common Data Set- How UT will use the SAT/ACT Essay for Fall 2017 Admissions

Question C8C of the UT Austin Common Data Set (at the link below) addresses how UT will use the SAT/ACT Essay scores. UT indicates it will use both the SAT/ACT essay scores for admission and placement. A little disappointing with all the issues with scoring on the essay portion of those exams- especially the ACT.

Following this thread in case any information is provided. I have a 34 composite with a 36 in English, but got a 29 on the essay. :confused: worried about how this will affect my chances at McCombs.

@gettingschooled The link doesn’t work. But i’m assuming the ‘best practices in admissions’ page with the AI formulas is still pertinent in regards to this article.

Link works for me so not sure what the problem is. Sorry about that. I think back when I was posting this, I was trying to figure out if maybe UT would stop using the essays since there were so many problems with them. Until we find something otherwise, the best practices document is the best we have.
