Heylo CC!
Can you guys chance me for the Academic Excellence Scholarship at UT Dallas?
ACT: 31 (E34,M35,R26,S29)
High School Rank: Top 5% in a class of 256.
I do not know the course strength cause I’m an International, but I took Calculus, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry Equivalent of AP Physics C in Grade 11 and 12, Computer Science and some Chemistry.
My grades are good (upward trend)
8.0/10 CGPA in 9th Grade
9.8/10 CGPA in 10th Grade (National Merit status in Board Examination)
(Changed high school after 10th grade).
91.08% Score in 11th Grade.
ECs:
1.Joint Secretary of IT Club Grade9
2.Secretary of IT Club Grade10
3.Student Representative, Student Cabinet Grade9
4.Senior Student Representative, Student Cabinet Grade10
I don’t know if these count but:
I have got 2 good Recommendation Letters from my teachers which I have submitted to the university.
I have 800 on SAT Math Level 2.
My brother was a grad student there and a two time student senator (I didn’t mention about him).
Thanks! @CorpusChristi .
I read on some thread that UTD is looking more into ECs than academics and test scores. Do you think it will be a problem for me?
Also, a guy told me that it becomes relatively difficult to get a scholarship if you’re admitted in January than in November. What do you think?
I do know they gave out some AES scholarships in December. My DD received one. I think they were looking at all admissions before 11/15 for that release. I have not heard of anybody receiving one in Jan/Feb, so they may be waiting until 3/1. Their web page seems to indicate that 11/15 and 3/1 are the big cut off days. Hopefully, you will know by midMarch.
We called the school yesterday to get a sense of whether they had reviewed my son’s application for the AES scholarships as we are trying to make some last minute decisions about which schools to visit over spring break. It sounds like they will release results in a batch quite soon, possibly end of this week or sometime early next week.
AES scholarship info posted today on my son’s Galaxy Portal. He has not yet received his e-mail notification yet. Looks like he received the Academic Distinction Scholarship. We will be looking very closely at UTD after the generous offer.
