UT Dallas AES Class of 2022

I just checked my financial aid status on the UTD Galaxy Portal and my AES award was there! I received the Distinction Level (full tuition plus $1000 stipend)

@freshmesh167 when did you apply and what are your stats?

@3scoutsmom Applied July 19th and accepted August 7th. Ranked 4th out of 569 with a 1480 SAT

I received the Distinction AES scholarship. Got an email last evening. Applied in Aug. SAT 1380

Thanks for letting me know when you guys applied. Our high school won’t released transcripts or LORs until the second week of September! I’m not sure when DS actually applied but I know he was accepted before the end of October.

I hope the are sending AES notification based on the application date and I should be more patient.

@3scoutsmom If it helps, many of my friends who got accepted late-October last year got their AES notification in mid-December!

Thanks @freshmesh167 that does help!

Just saw this posted on the AES page which confirms @freshmesh167 's post.

I REALLY want a full ride to UTD! I have great rec letters, AP classes, 3.9 unweighted and weighted GPA, lots of volunteering and leadership. However, my highest SAT superscore was 1300. I am so stressed out because the full ride to utd matters a lot. Kindly, if you get the scholarship, please share your stats and when you received the award. I got admitted like on November 10. I am so nervous!!

Do you think it affects their evaluation for AES if you haven’t accepted admission offer yet?

@freshmesh167 @uscitizenindia Did y’all accept the offer of admission before you received AES? Do you think it will increase my chances of receiving the distinction award if I accept the offer of admission?

@Pro1234 I have not accepted the offer of admission yet. Not sure if doing so will make much of a difference really

@Pro1234, I have not accepted the offer of admission yet

I’ve seen posts about the pros and cons of accepting admission before finding out about AES scholarships. I don’t think it matters either way. My son, who applied to UTD in July and accepted his offer of admission in September, was awarded Honors AES. He is very high stats (4.0 UW, 5/~750 class rank, NMSF, 1560 SAT, lots of APs, National AP scholar). He did not submit any essays or letters of recommendation with his application, so his AES award is based on his basic application alone and he doesn’t have any really unusual ECs. I’m guessing it’s mostly about his stats and his July application date although his ECs may have played a small part too.

He only accepted his offer of admission because he knew he wanted UTD; it’s actually the only college he applied to. If you know for sure that you will definitely attend UTD then sure, accept your offer. If you aren’t sure yet, I don’t think your AES depends on that at all.

Folks that were acepted to UTD in October should have their AES awrad list on their portal.

Hey!
Applied before october 31st, got accepted mid-November.
Are AES letters out?

Review Status: Students admitted prior to 11/1/2017 who qualified for an AES have been notified. The scholarship committee is currently reviewing first-time freshmen admitted in November. Award notifications will go out after the winter break. UT Dallas will be closed from December 21 – January 2. We encourage future Comets to explore all scholarship opportunities offered by the university and to complete a FAFSA.

Daughter applied on Aug 6. and was admitted shortly after. She received AES Honors and notified on 11/18.
