sorry, i know there is a ut dallas forum but its really empty, hoping i can get any input from ppl here.

I got capped as well and did the cap agreement with UT Dallas as my choice since they give out alot of scholarships even to cap students, so im just awaiting for them to tell me how much...

with these stats you think i could get a good scholarship?

SAT 2070 690 690 690
Rank 72/581 12%
good ec and essays
efc of 0
first generation

Will UT dallas be a hard school to earn the 3.2 gpa? compared to ut san antonio where most ppl go?

yea i think that it would be harder at UT Dallas, since that is the next best school in the UT system. i mean did you see what your HS GPA needs to be if you are top 25? opposed to all the other UT schools? if you want an easy 3.2 i think UTSA would be easier

They offer CAP with UT Dallas now? Wowww, wished they had done that last year. You’ll probably get a decent amount of money. Maybe half tuition? UT Dallas is a pretty good school whereas UTSA isn’t. So it’ll be a bit harder to get a 3.2 GPA at UT-D than at UTSA.

@X yea this is the first time, but yea i think you need like 1100 on sat to even do cap their, and if you bottom half of class u cant do it their

lol UTD is a LOT harder for CAP than UTSA, but a 3.2 shouldn’t be too hard regardless, consequently i think they might look at UTD CAP kids better for admission into non-guaranteed majors. Also, UTD is extremely generous, I wouldn’t doubt if you got a full scholarship and plus their new suite-style dorms are pretty tight

With an EFC of 0, you’ll receive a lot of need-based aid at any public U in Texas.
Full Pell ($5500 next year), ACG ($750), possibly SFEOG (up to $2000), and the TEXAS grant ($6780, if you submitted the FAFSA by March 1)

UTD is pretty darn generous when it comes to financial aid. They award you stipends based on how much higher your SAT score is from the full ride minimum (1330 or around there last I heard).

That said, I got a full ride and $2000 a year for housing. I had a 1370/2060 and was in the top 12%, so I’d be surprised if you didn’t get at least what I got.

I just called the scholarships office at UTD and the lady had no clue about how the CAP program does things… and said i first needed to be accepted… BUT I thought im automatically accepted?!

the fact that she wasn’t aware of how to deal with CAP students makes me worried about whether they even give scholarships to Cap students :0

anybody doing the same thing as me or know what this means?

u need a certain SAT score to even do CAP at UT D, i think its 1200-1300
and with this being the first year they do CAP, it might not be set up aswell as other schools

UTD participated in CAP 2 years ago. They did not last year, and have limited involvement this year. Most CAP schools only award scholarships to students who are accepted as regular students to their school (even if they are ALSO in CAP). UT contacts the CAP schools after May 1 (the contract deadline), so if you did not apply as a regular student, UTD probably doesn’t know you will be attending there yet.

i have the sat score to do cap at UTD and if i applied regular i know i wouldv’e gotten a big scholarship, but since im applying for cap you think i wont get any scholarships anymore?
the first person i talked to said they still have scholarships that they award on a monthly basis.

what if i apply regular right now(their deadline is not over) and then get a scholarship and could i put that together with my CAP program… or is that just plain stupid and would not make a difference than if i just let them review my cap application.

is there some CAP number i could call?

thank you guys for your help so far. even though its not about UT austin questions specifically…

Only UTD can answer that question for sure.
I am not familiar with their policies, but I work in the Financial Aid office at another CAP school. We do not automatically offer scholarships to anyone (even NM scholars). Students have to apply for scholarships through the ApplyTexas app. So, only students who applied directly to our school can be considered for scholarships, even if they submit a CAP contract. However, ALL students are still eligible for federal and state aid, like the TEXAS grant, as long as the FAFSA is submitted by March 31.
Remember, UTD will not receive notification for UT until after May 1. Most scholarships may be awarded by that time.

UT actually forwards the CAP info 10 days after you accept or something, i dont know about that May 1 thing, and does everyone get the Texas Grant? and do i have to finish my verification before i will get any offers?

The TEXAS grant is only offered to students with an EFC under $4000. Also, the state doesn’t have enough funds to cover everyone who qualifies, so it is awarded state-wide first come, first served. This year students who submitted a FAFSA by Feb 21 were initially awarded and then the state released additional funds at 2 other times, to be awarded to students who sent the FAFSAs by certain dates determined by THECB. Those dates aren’t firm though. They are determined each year based on the funds available, the number of eligible students, and the dates FAFSAs are submitted.
