How important is the essay for UTD? Will not doing it be a dealbreaker, as they will think I’m not interested?
35 ACT, 1550 SAT, 4.85 GPA, national merit semifinalist, good ECs. Asian female, out of state. Major will be mechanical engineering.
I don’t know about UTD in particular but the general rule is that optional essays are not really optional if you want to give yourself the best chance to be admitted. I’d take the time to write it.
@hk4391 my son has similar stats and is applying to UTD and I told him optional essays are not an option.
My son has similar stats and did not do the UTD essay. He was admitted just a few days after he applied. He is in-state though.
@hk4391 Admissions into UT Dallas on the undergraduate level isn’t competitive like it is at UT Austin. The essay for UT Dallas is a good idea for students with average to below average test scores/GPAs. You’re fine just applying.
