UT Dallas Vs University of Rochester for (Electrical) Engineering Major

Including Scholarships and Financial Aid the cost of attendance at both universities will hopefully be similar (UT Dallas might be slightly cheaper). UT Dallas is closer to my relatives’ houses, So I will have a place to visit during the weekends and small breaks. On the other hand, University of Rochester is a much more reputed private university with more diverse student body and smaller class sizes, however, it’s a bit oddly located for me and also Rochester winters can be pretty bad for me to cope with.

I am really confused and don’t know for sure what will be best for me. Any suggestions, advice regarding the matter will be highly appreciated. Thank You all for your time.

P.S. I am an international student.

Rochester would have a better reputation on the East Coast and a more residential atmosphere. More people in TX now know how good UT-Dallas is but it still doesn’t have much of a name outside TX.

I’d go for UTD in a heartbeat! Lower cost of living, close to family, better weather and a great school with loads of internship and research opportunities. UTD also has a large international student population.

@3scoutsmom I prefer UTD for all the points u mentioned, but UofR is just too well reputed and their academics and faculty outweighs that of UTD. I will be traveling a long way from home, so i just hope to get the best out of my efforts. And thanks a lot for your response, I hope you can add some more insight.
