Recently, I have accepted the UT contract for housing as a first year student. I signed for it electronically and they sent me a confirmation email with the contract offer information.

However, before I was supposed to submit the $300 advance payment, I have decided that I will not live on campus; so I clicked "cancel" on the housing application. When I check my housing balance, it says I have "$0.00" due.

However, when I looked on their website and CollegeConfidential, they both say something such as "cancel[ing] your housing contract prior to moving into the residence halls will make your $300 advance payment not refundable." I had cancelled before submitting payment.

Does this mean I still have to pay the $300 advance payment for canceling my contract? Or am I not obliged to because the contract is not valid until I submit the payment?

Thanks.
