UT Fall 2011 Decision Thread

i know there are already a bunch of acceptance threads, but to me it feels like they're only meant for acceptances and makes others feel out of place.

i haven't gotten my decision yet, but i'm just making this since we'll get them this week. acceptances give an idea of what the admissions office is looking for, as well as denials, so this is also helpful to juniors and below, imo.

so post your stats (as much as you feel comfortable with posting), which colleges you applied to, and your decision. if not accepted, post where you'll go instead if you do/don't get offered CAP. waitlisted? post too!

best of luck to everybody.. stay strong, stay positive, and remember that even if you don't get accepted this year, you can still be UT Austin's graduating class of 2015! <3

Got waitlisted today… Will post stats later.

waitlisted today as well

My stats arent stellar but my community service and the clases that I have taken (mostly honors & APs) have been really rigourous. I accepted the wait list offer

i’ll be crossing my fingers for the both of you. (:

ah, i got CAP’d.

oh well! shed a tear or two and now i’m fine! looks like i’ll be a roadrunner next year!

What is “CAP’d” ?

CAP’d here as well.

CAP is the Coordinated Admissions Program. it’s for denied in-state students, and basically it means you go any of UT’s satellite schools for a year, then (upon completion of the requirements) you get automatic acceptance to UT Austin your sophomore year. here, i’ll link ya.

[CAP Information | Coordinated Admission Program | Be a Longhorn](Info For – University of Texas Admissions)

i’ll be going to UTSA since it’s in my city.

oh here are my stats:

AP Scholar at end of junior year
Rank: barely top 5% (large Houston public)

Community service: less than 50 hours per year accumulated…drumline and band
consume most of his time.

Other acceptances: TAMU Engineering, Mines. Waiting to hear from Stanford, Duke, Rice. Highly likely he will attend UT based on quality of curriculum in relationship to cost to attend. In other words, if accepted to Duke, Stanford or Rice, they’d have to come up with merit money which would be unusual. He attended Honors Colloquium over the summer and likes UT a lot.

To those cap’d. A year goes by amazingly fast. You will be at UT before you know it and you will be Longhorn Class of 2015.

Accepted to McCombs!!!
In state, non-ranking school, ACT 35, 4.1 w GPA.

Waitlisted

And so-so essays

Honestly it’s just a relief to get this decision out of the way… I’ve been waiting to get rejected for so long that being on the waitlist is just icing on the cake! haha

Into PR at the Comm School!! I’m in state not top 10 at a public school that is one of UTs top feeders.
3.8 W/roughly top 28%
SAT: 2210
Resume highlights: Started two clubs, 150 hours of community service, professional acting career, started a photography/editing business, NMSF and I went to the UT Honors Colloquium this summer.
My essays were pretty good as well!
I’ve taken 11 APs and almost all honors except two regular math classes. Never got less than a 4 on an AP exam  My counselor loves me and sent a supplementary rec with my app even though they dont require it too.

Im actually super excited although Texas is not my top choice! I honestly expected to get CAP’d.
