I can see these admissions working in tandem.

When we went to the Admissions sessions they said that all the admissions into a particular major were holistic. They said that auto admit was only into UGS.

CAP means “you’ve been denied, but go to UT___, complete 30 hours of approved coursework, get a 3.2 and come back next year”

waitlisted means “we’re waiting for space to clear up, and if it does you’ll be admitted”

i’m not sure how they pick and choose, the waitlist only consists of a couple hundred students. CAP is only for in-state applicants and i’m not quite sure if they all get it.

UTAustinR:
Since I have been admitted to McCombs (yesterday) but have not had a BHP interview, where do I stand? I got a phone call several months ago from BHP about my interest level and was invited to a small group meeting (six students) in my city. No alumni interview, though.

Tiger, it’s hard to say. They are saying their applicant pool was over 1,000 this year–largest pool yet, so the competition was pretty fierce. I wouldn’t freak out though until March–you could still be on the list for an interview.

Accepted to McCombs today! I found out I was accepted to UT in late December but I’ve been waiting forever to hear about McCombs. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to come!
Here are my stats:

OOS (Florida)
4.75 W (out of 5) and 4.00 UW (out of 4)
IB Diploma so I’ve taken virtually only IB/AP classes
ranked 14/550 so top 3%
ACT-29
SAT II’s: Math(2)-750 Chem-690
Pretty good amount of community service/extracurricular activities plus I’ve had a job since junior year
I think my essays were good but I think what really got me in was the rigor of my schedule and gpa/class rank

Definitely going to attend and cannot wait to be on campus again! Go Horns!

SAT 1950
SAT II US History: 680
SAT II French: 780
Rank - Top 20%
GPA: 3.8/4
APs: APUSH - 5, French - 5
NHS
VP of a Club
Member of 4 clubs
Varsity Sport - 4 years
150 + community service hours
Work Experience - worked in a shop
Few Awards

This sucks, as I’m looking at the stats of some people who actually got in, I feel so frustrated. I also feel so bad for one of my friends: his rank was close to mine, he had a 2320 on his SAT and he got CAPed as well. They really need to get rid of this top 8 rule. But i’ve gotten over that depressed mood, and I’m excited for college! I still don’t know where I’ll end up: UTSA or A&M?

I’ll be taking classes like Calc I, Chem 101, Bio 101 during freshman year, which college will be easiest to get a 4.00?

I’m sorry you were not admitted. What I have heard is that if having UT on your diploma is your dream, then you definitey should go with the CAP program. Best luck on a happy freshman year, no matter where you attend. If you have already served our country, thank you for your service!

Accepted at Undergraduate Studies!
I can’t wait to go to UT in the Fall. I’ve been waiting so long to hear back from them!

ACT: 30
SAT: 1970
Rank: top 31% 133/423
GPA: 3.8
LOTS of extracurriculars, strong essays, lots of volunteer work, etc.
and I added things to my application that UT didn’t ask for, which I think helped a lot.

Typically how are teh BHP interview invites sentout? Email? Snail Mail? Phone Call? Also, is there any possibility of interview invites this late into the admissions process?

Thanks for sharing the information with us.

Usually an alum will email the student to set up a phone call. Sometimes alums call to set up a time to meet in person, but that’s pretty rare.

There are probably still some pending interviews… I honestly don’t know. It’s a possibility though.

Finally heard this morning, totally did not expect them to update it on a sunday!

Status: Accepted
SAT: 2030
GPA: 3.7 UW
Very competitive non ranking private school
OOS - MD
Really good recs and ec, including lots of leadership

DEFINITELY GOING NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY IN MY LIFE

I’m so happy for you!! Seeing the magic posting on a Sunday must have been a wonderful surprise - I guess the adm staff is working overtime to get everyone an answer as quickly as possible. Isn’t the feeling wonderful, like you can finally breathe again?

Yeah completely! I was freaking out when they didnt tell me on Friday and I checked my status today out of habit but I didn’t expect it to be different. I am soooo happy this is the best feeling in the world!
Congrats to everyone else as well :)
