theloneranger, not all houses take spring pledges. I know that my son's fraternity does not do spring rush. So, you might want to find out which houses do if you're planning on rushing in the spring.

And hookem horns, that is really a perfect run down on both fraternity and sorority rush at Texas.

Spring pledges are looked down upon in a few fraternities.

It is rare for a sophomore that attended UT their freshman year to end up pledging 2nd year. The ones that I've seen were guys that grew up with some active(s) that pledged freshman year. In the back of people's mind will be "what was wrong with this person the first time around?". Plus, they'd rather have a guy that'll be active for 4 years.
It's even rarer for sororities to give bids to sophomores.

The sophomores that pledge their 2nd year usually are transfers from other schools.

hey hookem do the sororities call up every1 who applied or only the people that they like/ know. what do u mean by rush list?

and i think i might do the summer term to adjust better. do u think its a good idea to go to the fraternity parties during that time?

where im from you definitley shouldnt go to them until after rush!...but im guessing texas is different?

go figure.

"In addition, generally, girls are so afraid of making the wrong move during summer fraternity parties that they huddle in their little circles with other freshman girls that are rushing. I think that is safe example to follow during parties until you get a bid."

so basically have fun and dont make an idiot of yourself? and is any1 allowed to go to the parties or do you have to know some1 in that house.

SRD. But it really doesn't matter. The only thing about Hardin and SRD is that a large percentage of the girls living in either are planning on going greek. They also will predominantly be from areas where greek connections are abundent. But, girls who live other places pledge too, so it's not a deal breaker if you're not in either of those.
